Interesting. This country has a 50% divorce rate and like a 65 or 70% (I forget which) rate of adultry. Yet, we're going to attack someone for "trading up" - so to speak. Not saying I agree with what he did - but for the US to even concern themselves with this is like the ole "pot meet kettle" saying. Bill gets a blow job from someone not-his-wife and it's "OMG it's just a blow job, don't make a big deal out of it!!" But McCain gets a legal divorce and remarries and it's hell fire and brimstone for him.

Secondly - Obama is not "black" - he's half white and half black - raised by his WHITE mother. But, I guess in the realm of politics his degree of "blackness" is the only thing that matters. I'm just pointing out how the article describes him... not but what anyone here has said.

Come on Diekan, in the eyes of the world Obama is a black man. No one looks at him and says "oh that biracial guy there!". People who are not voting for him based on his skin color are doing so because he's black. Conversely people who are voting for him based on his skin color are doing so because he's black. I would say that it's likely in his entire life no one has weighed his white half nearly as equally as his black half, that's how society works. If you look black, you're black.

Secondly, McCain CHEATED on his wife while they were still married. I'm not saying that Clinton didn't, because of course he did as well. But don't try to justify what McCain did by tossing in there "a legal divorce". He dumped his worn out, disfigured, crippled wife for a better, richer model. Period.

if you want to get historical, back in the day there was such a thing as a "one drop rule" which was an exaggerated way of saying that even quadroons (one black grandparent) or octoroons (one black great-grandparent) were considered black regarding the jim crowe laws. light-skinned blacks often "passed" as whites in order to enjoy a full range of social privileges, sometimes even cutting themselves off from their darker family members to avoid being discovered. this, of course, was a hotly contested issue among blacks, and understandably, led to a further consternation regarding racial identity.

now, in light of that, whether you think barack is "passing" or not (that's a separate argument which i won't get into :D), he is still considered black

But McCain gets a legal divorce and remarries and it's hell fire and brimstone for him.

er, if you want to be a little more accurate, he chased Cindy around the table *while* he was married, cheated on his wife after she waited for him to return home and ended up in an accident leaving her less than desirable to him. after all that time taking care of his kids and waiting for him to return from Nam, he essentially left her because she was in a chair crippled and not good enough for him anymore, while Cindy was a (way too young for him) beauty queen with a rich daddy to support his future in politics. only after a time of Carol McCain having no idea did they legally divorce with him buying her off so she didn't make a stink about it.

no, what mccain did to his wife was far worse than what clinton did. not to take away from what clinton did because it's also despicable, but to glorify mccain in this situation is simply wrong.

(edit- I just read Clakar's link.. if you actually read the link you'd know all this stuff already, so why you even made that statement I'm not sure)

I actually posted that link because, while I've heard of the first wife, I've never seen anything from 'her' or a picture of her, at the same time, I never really looked that hard, just thought it was a worthy bit of news along with the comments from her.

edited I typoed the first / second wife bit :)

I didn't know this, and yeah, my jaw dropped, seriously

Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

& Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

vs.

McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 of 899

& Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

Palin - 8-9 years for a BA in fucking journalism, McCain - 5 shy of the worst performing student of the graduating class

For fucks sake :wtf:

I don't know if this is true so if someone can disprove it, please do

You do realize that Federal Academies rate among the lowest in acceptance rates and with the highest attrition rates of colleges in the country? Not only is it very difficult to get in, but stay and graduate from one of our service Academies. Trust me, I know.

I thought 2 semesters = 1 year so by may simple calculations Palin got a degree in 4.5 years? Why would that be double?

And yeah, two lawyers talking about going to Washington to make change. THAT's something really different!

(BTW, I love playing devil's advocate now that I don't have a horse in this race) :)

I don't know how long it took her, but yeah I knew about the 6 different schools thing and about her degree being in journalism and it was pretty /boggle to me. Most 50k a year jobs expect more of you than that, much less the 2nd most important position in the states.

and 10sun, you don't really need to exaggerate with Palin. She seriously is that bad.

I love watching people try to defend McCain and Palin. ALL they can ever do is attack Obama and Biden. There just isn't anything to work with on the Republican ticket. It's GOTTA be a joke, right?

That is exactly my point about Palin.
There are some shady things that people are blowing out of proportion to become non-truths rather than horrible truths.

Do a bit of research. The female is despicable and has done a lot of shitty things; however she is not as bad as what was linked... almost though.

yeah yeah, nothing new but I still wanted to get it in front of people because should this man become president, I have to assume he'll cater the rich and powerful (moreso than Obama, McCain has a lot more to lose).

my friend's half white and half black and if you called him a n***** he'd still fuck you up. it's in their family, dude. how dare you try to make some kind of a point about it, like he's not "really" black, even though his father's from fucking africa. OMG HE MARRIED A WHITE GIRL AND HAD A MULATTO, HOW DARE ANYBODY TRY TO SAY HE'S ACTUALLY BLACK OR COULD KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT AFRICAN CULTURE

haylo's post is right on about this.... if you look black, you're black. and if you try to tell them they're not "really" black, well, i feel really sorry for you. i'm sure "his degree of "blackness" is the only thing that matters", to you, you stupid fuck

i never knew that, hah

it sounds to me like McCain has been in politics so long that he has no idea what to do anymore, as long as his name is in the papers. i remember making fun of his campaign back when i was in high school. we used to draw pictures of him doing lines of coke and he was John McCoke because his past drug problems were a big deal or something
