Re: Election prediction
Tossica asked you specifically why you want to vote for them. Saying "I don't think it'll be more of the same" is not answering any questions. We already know that you obviously think these things already.
What do you admire about Palin? What key issues does McCain not agree with Bush on? Why won't it be 'more of the same'?
What democratic candidates are socialist asstards and why? What do they do that's remotely socialist?
Why don't you ever explain yourself or give us a real answer that doesn't skate around the point of the question?
I think it's because you don't really have any opinions or knowledge about any of this. In my opinion, you vote how Fox News and your Fwd:e-mails tell you to, and have no real ideas or educated opinions about any of it for yourself. And I don't think you'll ever prove that you can have real political discourse because we've been asking you the same questions, quite simply, for years now

Re: Election prediction
yeah, this whole "i admire Palin" "she's like someone next door"..... BLAH BLAH BLAH
who the fuck wants her running th country if McCain drops dead???
i mean seriously.
THE ONLY difference between her and Hillary (besides the fact that Hillary is infinitely more intelligent and qualified)?
Palin's lippy, but she's a MILF.... if Hillary had pulled off the hot lippy smiley thing, she would have the election int he bag
and the reason i think people find it easy to vote for Obama is that Pubs and Dems aren't that different and you have someone who inspires people... does that make him a great presidential candidate, who knows.
but whatever anyone says i think ANOTHER 8 years of thousands of US forces and 10's of thousands of Iraqi's (military and Innocents) dying SOUNDS GRRRRRREAT!

Hopefully it will work out that way.
Why? WHY would someone want more of what we've had for the last 8 years? WHY? Aren't you even slightly curious what "the other side" would do now that you've had 8 years of ass raping? Wouldn't at least some lube and maybe a reach around be nice about now?
McCain will not be "more of the same" imo. He's gone against Bush on several key issues. I also absolutely admire Palin.
He's voted against Bush in the distant past. In recent years, he has progressively voted more and more with Bush, as I've addressed in another thread - we do not know what McCain we will get - the one who crossed party lines, or the one who has something like 65 complete flip-flops and counting. The man has tried so desperately to get the conservative vote that he has completely lost what he stood for.
What specifically do you admire about Palin? I'd be interested to hear it, because I'm hard-pressed to find anything positive about her.

Re: Election prediction
lets put it this way
Bush is a failure as a president.
McCain voted 90% with Bush
McCain will be a failure as a president
Bush is a failure as a president.
McCain voted 90% with Bush
McCain will be a failure as a president
For you

but but but he differs from on key issues that mindia cannot disclose
Re: Election prediction
So did Lyion just disappear from the board so he would not have to admit Bush is a fucking failure like we all said he would be? Didn't he say something like "Bush will go down in history as one of the greatest presidents ever" or something like that?
Anyhow, last time Mindia voiced an opinion on Bush it was a positive one so he obviously likes his rectum stretched and torn.

Lyion pretty much left the board a long time ago. He occasionally pokes his head in but doesn't really post anymore.

Re: Election prediction
my prediction is that this current economic crisis combined with another terorist attack (this time blamed on iran or korea take your pick) will cause bush to claim temporary emergency powers ala palpatine and making himself permanent fascist dictator suspending the constitution in the name of freedom

I never said he was gone. I said he doesn't post much anymore.

Re: Election prediction
I think it's going to be a lot closer than people realize.
McCain *might* pull it out in the end, but I have my doubts. If I were to guess right now - I'd say Obama wins it by small margin.

Re: Election prediction
Even though i'm hoping to be proven wrong, I believe McCain takes it in the end. I don't trust the polls versus the idiocy/fear of people. It's still hard for people in this country to accept as big a change as a black man leading their country. I don't have faith that when it comes time for those independent/leaning voters to choose that they'll actually do it. I have more faith that they'll simply abstain and McCain wins narrowly.
Before anyone jumps up and down, i'm not saying that people that don't vote for Obama are racists, i'm saying that his race is and will be a factor for some, whether or not it effects the final outcome, we'll all have to wait and see.

Re: Election prediction
While I hate the very thought of it, I think McCain is going to win, we are still too racist of a country to let a black man lead it. Polls are for the media and at the end of the day, they don't tell the real truth.

Thank you for that. It annoys me to no end to hear that anyone who won't vote for him is a racist.
I'm not voting for him because he doesn't know jack about the economy and that's my #1 hot topic. I'm not voting for McCain for the very same reason. They both will be disasters for our country's economy. The fact that they both voted YES for that idiotic bailout bill only cements this opinion in my mind.

Re: Election prediction
I believe this is the Democrats year, and Obama will win. Mccain has run a woeful campaign. Obama has run a great campaign.
That's the Bradley effect, and it's certainly valid to bring it up. The problem being black pollers asking people if they'll vote for a black candidate, and some will not tell the truth to avoid the perception of racism. That's not the idiocy fear of voters, it's the stupid way of doing polls.
I saw a video clip of Howard Stern asking a bunch of black people if they were voting for Obama for positions on the Mccain plank. They all said yes. While I'm sure that's not the norm, it does lean one to believe a lot of people will actually vote for Obama because he is black. I'm sure many independents who see the truth that politicians are mostly full of it will vote for Obama because of the black factor, and a desire to get past the point of race baiting. Whether it will actually change anything and stop the accepted black separatism and segregation is another argument completely.

Just as many if not more will NOT vote for him because he is black. It's a wash.

I'm sure you could do something similar with a bunch of white people if you picked the right area. Some people will vote based solely on skin color both ways, those people should stay home on election day. Don't get me wrong I encourage everyone to vote, under the assumption they know what they are really voting for, casting a ballot is only part of the responsibility of voting.
I guess the real question here is to what extent this will affect the election, if any. I haven't seen any real numbers, and doubt we ever will simply because the country is so race sensitive I wouldn't trust people on both sides to tell the truth in a poll, and of course the ballot box is anonymous and silent on the issue. A similar factor is the number of conservatives who won't vote for McCain, and the number of liberal Hillary supporters that will.
I'm not even going to begin to speculate on election predictions at this point save to say I think it's going to be very close. I will say that I believe that regardless of the election results there will be charges of voter fraud and voter suppression, and we will see a Florida like situation in quite a few more states this time around.

Re: Election prediction
Regarding asking black people if they are voting for Obama, I think it's not as telling as the right would think because 95% of black people probably always vote democrat regardless of who the candidate is. In the national elections I have voted in, I have always voted Dem, that's because Bush never appealed to me and McCain certainly does not. However I have voted Republican for state level offices and been roundly castigated for it. There is definitely a mentality among black people to vote Dem regardless, in my opinion and from my experience anyway. Thus the fact that Obama is black has little bearing on their votes because the overwhelming odds are that they would have voted for any Democratic nominee.
What would be telling for black voters is if there was a black Republican nominee. If they then polled for leaning towards that candidate, you could cite the skin color claim.

Re: Election prediction
first - Hi Lyion!
second - I heard the Howard Stern clip too, and while it was terribly unnerving, I guarantee if you did the same sort of poll on women voting for McCain you could find several who answer the same way. Like Lueyen, I'd have them all stay home, but the reality is that this happens every election, in various degrees. It's not really anything new, it just happens to be a new variety.
