Interesting clip on Housing Crisis

Postby Diekan » Thu Oct 16, 2008 8:12 pm

I realize the 'hard core' Obama supporters here will not watch this, or will dismiss it as propaganda, but nonetheless there is a great deal of TRUTH in it. Most of it can be proven with a little research.

I have no choice left but to flip the middle finger to Barry supporters. They just don't get it.

Most of them wont care. Their minds are already made up that this man can do, nor has done ANYTHING wrong. Most of them here won't even watch it all the way through. Many wont understand it (and I'm not trying to mean, but it is what it is). Others will write it off as propaganda.

Wasn't intended to "change" your vote. It was intended to show you that the Dems (and Obama) do not have clean hands in this mess...

The problem *I* have is that the Democrats (with the help of MSNBC and CNN) are putting this whole mess off on Bush and the Republicans with a claim they have nothing to do with it. The facts say otherwise.

EVERYONE has a part in this...

And let's see....what did the bailout do for us again? Oh yeah! It's going into the pockets of more bankers. Friends of Paulsen and Bernanke.

And we'll still have a recession/depression just with things costing more because of the bailout.

And Brin....not Cynthia McKinney! Vote Nader instead (since I know you won't vote Barr or Baldwin).

This clip is by the same guy, but my God it is even more damming...

A lot of it is the same information as in the first clip, but it does add a lot of new facts not covered previously.

You are a die hard supporter of continuing in the manner we have been for the last 8 years and OBAMA supporters don't get it?

Pathetic.

I watched almost the whole thing, you can't say there is a ton of spin in there. They imply it was 100% dems fault and that is 100% BS. While the content was interesting, it could only be perceived as rep. propaganda.

I'm sure there are many similar videos spun the exact opposite.

EDIT

Mindia and Diekan, being the elitist you are, why the fuck do you care about these folks getting foreclosed on? They're the dumbasses who overextended themselves. These are the very people you think should get foreclosed on. You can't swing both ways, in one post you imply "these people should get what the deserve" and then in a post like this, you're using the same folks as if you sympathize with them. Pick a side boys, don't swing both ways.

This video makes no mention of the 1000's of $400K + homes that are being forclosed on in wealthy neighborhoods. This video also presents NO data as to what percentage of the forclosures are actually poor people.

In short, the video is bullshit and I can present you with multiple videos that "prove" it was greed and not poor people wanting to own a home that caused the crisis.

Call it what you want. But the devaluation of the dollar is the root cause of this. What caused the devaluation? The Iraq war.

It also fails to mention which party was in power in 1995 in Congress, and thus had to be the one to pass the legislation in question... That's right, boys and girls, the GOP.....

I also like how it blames Obama for the problem, when it a) claims the problem began in 1995, and b) Obama wasn't even in the Senate until 2004..... So now they're claiming he can do time travel too? Riiiiight.

Clinton was President in 1995. He had to sign it before it became law.

And you completely missed the Obama point. They were talking about ACORN and about how his advisors were involved in causing the current crisis.

IT WASN'T POOR PEOPLE AND ACORN YOU FUCKING DIPSHITS!

It was RICH people trying to cash in on poor people AND RICH people trying to get more rich by betting on risky mortgages that caused the collapse. Poor people weren't the ones buying up tons of houses, throwing a few $$$ at them and then trying to make a quick profit on them over and over and over again. Poor people weren't the ones packaging $100's of millions of dollars worth of risky mortgages together and then taking bets on what they would be worth in the future. Poor people weren't the ones buying $500K houses when they should have been buying $200K houses. Poor people weren't the ones taking out $100K home equity loans to pay off high interest credit cards, pay for their kids college, make ends meet. That was the middle class who have been taking it in the ASS this whole time.

Mart, if you want to talk about advisors perhaps you should review McCains.

I know you're not voting for either though, so you've said, however I'd be curious who your candidates advisors are. I'd be real curious how involved they've been over the years with shit like this.

My God!

First and foremost. The videos did NOT put the blame of this crisis solely in the hands of Obama. They put the blame on CEO’s and a defunct, do nothing Congress that stood idly by and let it happen. The video merely pointed out that Obama’s hands are NOT clean in this mess! I KNEW that the likes of Arlos would run here to defend what he perceives as the Second Coming of Christ [Obama].

The main point of BOTH video clips is to INFORM the American people that the DEMOCRATS – the same party that has been putting ALL the blame of this housing crisis off on the Republican party actually played a HUGE role. You saw with your own eyes the Bills designed to regulate and reform the situation (before it got out of control) shot down by the Democrats. For fuck’s sake even Bill Clinton said the Democrats were getting the way of doing the right thing!!!!

You SAW the most worthless human being to have ever disgraced a congressional seat [Maxine Waters] sit there and pronounce that “nothing was wrong” and that “there was no crisis” while at the very same time the Washington Post was writing story after story of the very crisis she claimed didn’t exist!

They [Democrats] that blocked the bills for reform and regulation were in DENIAL. They were pushing their ultra liberal, socialist views of “government supported housing for all” on the country through the engine of FRE and FNM and couldn’t face the reality that it was not only falling apart, but WASN’T WORKING.

Obama did NOT cause this mess. Poor people did NOT cause this mess. But, his hands are just as red as everyone else’s. And the Kool-Aid drinkers (e.g Arlos), who scream they’re not brainwashed, won’t EVER admit that the “second coming” has done anything remotely wrong. Yet, he will sit back and with the utmost hypocrisy call Republican voters…. “sheep.”

Flame away wall you want… that son of bitch’s hands are just as dirty as the rest of them – and more dirty than McCain’s.

God I wish Hillary was on the ticket.

McCain is not perfect. And I never intended to imply he was. Two words... "Keating Five." He's guilty of his own sins. And, while I am not voting for him I am sick of these Democrats putting the blame off on the other party and LYING to the American people (which I realize is something they all do, but this is the worst crisis we've faced in decades).

I don't see where McCain is completely blameless in this mess but he DID in fact push for an effort to stop it - as did Bill Clinton - as did George Bush. But, the venomous hatred for all things GOP, of the left will never allow them to accept that they fucked up big time. For Barack "I'm the second coming of Christ" Obama to stand there and lie through his teeth is distugsting beyond belief.

To answer your question... in the case of the current housing/credit crisis... Yes. I believe Obama's hands are dirtier than McCain's.

In order to believe that Obama bears more blame than McCain you would have to be stating that you believe these problems have stemmed from actions only in the last 4 years. Do you really believe that? Because otherwise Obama has less accountability than McCain. How long has this issue been coming to a head? How long was McCain in Congress. How long did he call for less regulation. So what that two years ago he finally called for some checks on Fannie/Freddie. How long before that did he let it all happen, you know when Obama wasn't around.

Obama is not an angel, but he is less tainted by Washington's going ons than McCain and if you don't believe that than I don't know what else to say.
