ps brownshirts were the nazi guys who'd bust into homes at night and take away the non-believers/jews/undesirables

As for the link Leuyen posted, I highly doubt Minrott's comment had anything to do with that. Furthermore, I fail to see anything whatsoever negative in what he said. The CIA is a civilian national security agency. So is the NSA, the FBI, and even the Office of Homeland Security. So, given that we already HAVE a massive civilian national security apparatus, how is calling for having a strong one somehow conflated with calling for the creation of an SA-like apparatchik? I think you are MAJORLY reaching for some reason to dislike the man on that one, Lueyen. Might as well slam him for "Having 2 african american children within wedlock!!", or perhaps call him an admitted homo sapien.

Of course you don't, because like the rest of your political spectrum, you believe yourself (and your views) to be infallible, your messiah perfect, and anyone who dissents must be of inferior intelligence. Some how, you were convinced that in the new Obamunism, you'll be one of the select few shepherding the poor miserable wretches like me to the greater good. I'm an idiot for not wanting to be herded. I'm a racist or a fool because I can't see how much "help" I need from the government. You can't fathom that you might be shepherded a bit yourself. People like you scare me more than an Obama presidency itself, because it's people like you (or blind supporters of Bush) that give people like Obama, or Bush, the power to destroy this country.
So, like I said, I hope you get what you're asking for. I got it, with Bush, and now regret it completely. The pendulum keeps swinging wider and wilder, and neither of these candidates can or will do anything to stop it.

The Brown Shirts were a pseudo military group separate from the military in Germany who were instrumental in Hitlers rise to power. Their main function in this regard was to silence Hitlers political opponents through threat, violence and abuse of power.
Minrott's comment was basically making the coloration between Obama's civilian security force and the brown shirts, and casting Arlos as what was essentially a Nazi storm trooper in the process.
For those who are thinking Arlos reaction was over the top... while I think it was offensive to him to a degree I'm pretty sure he's more thick skinned then that I may be wrong, but I'm thinking that the irony here is a bit to overt to be serious. Someone accuses Arlos of being something akin to a thug who threatens or uses force to silence opposing views... and he threatens a ban and locks a thread? Seems to me a lot like a "I'm gonna get accused of it I might as well do it" stance.
That's almost it. "Truth squads" running around doing whatever they can to silence vocal opposition to Obama, the "civilian security force" that's been mentioned, all seem highly similar to how the Nazi party came to power, in my view. Not that I believe Arlos to be a Nazi of any sort, but that followers of The One seem to think that the means to their end doesn't matter. Ban me if you like, I rarely visit because of the drastically leftist views of this place, not to mention the contradiction and hypocrisy: I.E. The direct accusation of Bush or Republicans being "Nazis" while my comment was an indirect association at best leads to an outburst similar to tactics currently used by a large portion of the Obama movement.
Either way, I'm sure you're side will win this election, at this point, and while I would enjoy an upset I don't think McCain is a whole lot better option. As I said in the past, I am going to help you get your way, and vote a straight Dem ticket, because I think you and those like you should get what you're asking for. Obama and a super-majority, filibuster proof house and senate.

So if Obama does win, and suddenly America is the next Nazi regime, which sounds just abso-fucking-lutely hilarious to me, you can come back and call me stupid for thinking Obama was a decent guy. Oh wait, I'm sorry, in Republican bullshit slant I guess he'd be my "perfect messiah" hahahaha. Anyways, until that happens, you guys are just acting like little kids about this and throwing the worst insults you can think of left and right like monkeys throwing feces because you're not getting your way and your candidates are about as appealing as Cotton Hill and Annie Oakley

Minrott wrote:Of course. I'm under no illusion that McCain has some personal stake at making "Joe the Plumber's" life better with his policies.
But no matter his faults, he's American, and entitled to his opinion on policy. He had the audacity to challenge the man the media has anointed to be our president, and while he hoped his question would be carefully considered as a point of discussion, he found a massive wall of lunacy ready to do anything they could to discredit him, to hurt him, to ruin him.
Tell me how you can find this to be reasonable, while in the same breath say that any connection Obama might have with Bill fucking Ayers should not be investigated, that it's harmless and coincidental only?
Minrott wrote:The point isn't that so many people make so much money. The point is that many small business owners make that much money, that that amount of money per year income is where many small businesses grow into hiring other employees, that small businesses making that amount of money a year take more than a 40 hour week to build, and that by raising taxes on people like that will only cause people in that position to say "Fuck it I'm done," which hurts everyone.
Minrott wrote:And you don't believe they deserve to do that. I understand completely. Just don't blame them when they shrink their business by laying folks off to the point where they pay themselves $200,000 a year, so that they're not being stolen from quite as much anymore.
