Run windows update

I was going to put this in tech support but a huge security vulnerability patch was released by microsoft today.

Most people who exploit this will read the patch and then try to use the vulnerability on machines not yet updated.

We started pushing this out across the globa yesterday with mandatory reboots at 12:00pm (doh 10 mins from now /crossfingers is all goes well )

Talk to your IT folks, either something is borked up with WSUS or you could have a bug that cropped up a few weeks back where updates wouldn't get applied.

Or it could be that IT doesn't let ordinary users have administrator access to the machines.

Automatic Updates (allows the site to find, download and install high-priority updates for your computer)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) (helps updates download more quickly and without problems if the download process is interrupted)
Event Log (keeps a record of updating activities to help with troubleshooting, if needed)

all of those are running according to services.msc. dunno wtf is going on

I ran update on my laptop, and now Windows blue screens every time the computer starts, safe mode and all. GG. >_<

Something about trying to execute non-executable memory. Zzz.
