Sharks? Meh... sharks are good for soup
Of course I like them! In fact, you nailed it on the head - the double entendre works most effectively. Do you know how grossed out men get hearing a woman shout "RED WINGS ALL THE WAY!" during a game? It's awesomeness

First, you don't know basketball.

Second, I do know baseball.

Third, Basketball is infinitely more strategic than Baseball.

Did you mean "tentacle" or "testicle"?

I'm a fan of baseball even though I haven't watched it in years since my team traded Javy.. but I have to agree with Zan that basketball is more strategic. To say it's just a bunch of homies running up and down the court trying to stick a ball in the hole is the equivalent of saying football is just a bunch of guys running up and down the field jumping on top of each other.

There's not much to "get" about baseball - it's a pretty straight forward sport. That's not a knock at all, obviously there's a strategic element to it just like any sport. I mean I love it, but to pretend it's like this super deep complex top secret huddle strategy game and anyone who doesn't know that just doesn't understand the game is a little far.

It is pretty interesting when people talk shit about basketball because it's too gangsta and turn around and preach about how great football is when the player base isn't any different.

either way, pretty silly to argue which sport is better. obviously bowling wins. ;)

You just wait for the 2nd round of the playoffs, so SJ can lose to whichever team they should have beaten

Oh man you guys don't know what baseball's about. These guys play as many games in one season as every other sport combined basically. There's so much strategy in bullpen rotation alone to get the maximum out of a game and not fatigue your players that we could end the discussion just talking about that. Not to mention actual pitching strategies, or batting strategies, or base running strategies. Or appropriate fielding strategy calls against certain batters based on their statistics hitting against certain pitchers. You guys don't seem to understand that the whole game is based completely on strategy, from the first pitch to the last out. Definitely doesn't sound like you know what all the coaches do in the dugout, anyway. It's not a "straightforward" game at all. Every single moment is planned.

Sounds like you're talking about k-12 baseball or something /shrug. I dunno, I'm tired of defending it tbqh. I like plenty of other things, too, and I used to be like all you guys. "baseball's about as exciting as watching paint dry". Then I remembered it used to be really fuckin fun to play as a kid, and started getting back into it a couple seasons ago. Really glad I did, too. It's a huge portion of the year that no other sport that I like takes up. And has slowly become my favorite sport in the process

That's because it's about as physically taxing as a game of trivial pursuit.

And your point is what? Doesn't matter how physically taxing it is. 160+ games compared to 12 is hardcore. You're moving every goddamn day. Or if you're not playing, you're flying to your next game. It's ridiculous. Football players play really hard then hang out or train for a week, am I right? And since it's such a careless game where the whole point is hitting is hard as you can, it has a ridiculous amount of retired players that develop injuries later on in life. Awesome.

The pace is the best part about it baseball far as I'm concerned. You relax, eat BBQ, have some beers, then some insane play happens and everyone goes nuts. I love it. But I'm American, yunno, what do you expect. It's my sport

why the fuck are people defending the sport they watch?

hockey completely destroys every other sport, the entire argument is a waste.

ps football really sucks.

You have to be fat if you play baseball, otherwise you risk closing endorsement doors.

You think Ryan Howard could rap about subway's Big Philly cheese steaks if he wasn't fat?

NO!

Edit: As a huge cricket fan I can appreciate the tactics in baseball.

Basketball still pwnORSZZ<KLDSZ it though.

No one's comparing 160 games to 12 games.. it's comparing it to 82 games of constant running up and down the court, though, and with basketball, they're constantly moving as well. it's not a once a week sport.

I never said there's no strategy in baseball - again, I'm a fan. I was a fan of baseball long before basketball. the argument was made, though, that baseball is more strategic than basketball and anyone who doesn't 'get that' doesn't understand baseball. the same could be said about those who don't 'get' the strategy in basketball.

if baseball's your sport, that's cool. if basketball's your sport, that's cool. most people in the US adore football, I hate it. doesn't mean I think there's no strategy to it, though. all sports have an element of strategy. I find baseball to be the most straight forward of them in all the years I've watched it, but that's me. Basketball, to me, is a lot more involved and has taken me a lot longer to get a grasp on.

about bbq and beers and crazy plays, I think that can be applied to any sport really. there's no argument to be had - whatever sport you love is the sport you love, and that's a-ok.
