Maybe you've not heard of the rapes and killings via craigslist, sure they are rare.

Just know you're playing the lotto and you don't know if you've already won. If you win and know it, you win big time, if you lose, hey no skin off anyones back. However if you do ever win, regardless of the amount, I'm more than confident you'll change your opinion and scramble to undo something you'll never be able to undo unless you move, change your name, change your number, etc.

A lot of folks just don't gamble.

Did I actually say that you did? No. But I can't imagine why else you'd be afraid

And ya, I've heard of craigslist related problems, of course. But if you look at it realistically, that's also public and can be accessed by anyone, anywhere, at anytime. People that aren't my friend on facebook can't see my profile info.... end of story. You guys are way too paranoid lol

I think it comes down to "has it ever happened to you". If it did, regardless of what you 'think' you'll do, you don't know and may in fact change your opinion.

I also think it has to do with age. I don't mean that in some sort of "you're immature" and "I'm old and wise", more in the sense of you've become accustomed to posting personal info online because that is the 'norm', my 'norm' wasn't that. I also agree where it was posted re: the old grandma doesn't buy shit online vs. what a kid may buy online, I guess I could fit in-between there with a big leaning towards the kid :).

I just view it this way, id theft, social engineering, ease of access to your bank account, etc are issues that will become more and more common. You can not tell me you would willingly post your address, phone number, real name, etc on 4chan, are you? (BTW I've never been to 4chan but I've heard the stories LOL).

This is really just a small thing, your opinion and I'm sure my opinion won't sway either of us, just telling you how I see it, that's all, I wasn't looking to change your mind, I was just explaining why I play it safe :).

I would say that most parents and adults in the 30+ somethings, line up more with my thinking than yours and that my thinking is pretty far from paranoid or abnormal.

Ya I know. You're of a different time. No big deal. I said earlier my mother doesn't even trust eBay

And no I wouldn't ever post any of this info anywhere but facebook and I don't know what 4chan is. I don't personally post my address or phone number anyway. I'm just telling you a lot of people do

For a change ive got to agree with drem. Its fucking facebook, youre not putting your credit card number and all that shit in. Ebay, amazon, or places like that and buying stuff I can see being a little wary about doing it, of course. But facebook? Rofl
