Obama should be able to do what he wants since the democrats control both houses of Congress. I just hope he doesn't fuck it up.

The only reason America weeps today is the unbelievable voting down of homosexual rights. I will never understand why people think it's their business to govern how others live their adult consentual personal lives. The conservative mantra: "LESS GOVERNMENT!!! (unless I don't like what you're doing - in that case MORE GOVERNMENT!!!)"

a sad day for California, Florida, and Arizona.

Especially because here in California, it was already established as a right. The ballot measure was one specifically designed to take away a right people already had. That makes it not only highly disappointing, but potentially very scary, as well. I do know there's already 4 or 5 different lawsuits started challenging it, so we'll see what happens there.

Indeed, especially sad in California. That's the first time in US history that's been done, yes?

The only reason this passed is because it was called "Gay marriage ban"

It had nothing to do with gay marriage. It was about a civil union being the legal equivalent to marriage.

People misinterpreted by thinking it was a anti gay marriage law.

Even if you consider a marriage to be a religious institution then why the hell does the government care about some religious document?

They should just be getting out of all marriages.

It has to do with making two separate entities legally responsible as one until the agreement is voided. Civil union just happens to be another form of this agreement. The amendment was created to exclude all non "marriage" agreements from getting benefits that marriages get through taxes, health care, etc.

It has nothing to do with saying gays can get married or not. If gay marriage became legal this law would still hold in effect for anyone under civil union or any non marriage agreement, such as widowed elderly who want to cut costs on health care.

Christ, doesnt the government have MORE IMPORTANT bullshit to worry about right now? God fucking God almighty fucking Christ

As much as the faggosexuals annoy me, I couldnt care less if they can have a 'civil union' or not. As long as they keep it out of my living room, let them do whatever the fuck they want and worry about the more important issues that are at hand right now. Fuck.

I have double-edged feelings about Affirmative Action. On one hand I feel it is a completely discriminatory policy that encourages divisiveness and leads to feelings of resentment and entitlement. On the other hand, I don't know if anyone who is against it can honestly say that without it, minorities and women would have a fair and equal shot at some jobs and at some schools. I realize that AA sometimes results in less qualified minority candidates receiving jobs over more qualified white candidates, but it also stops those same minorities from being turned away when they are just as qualified. There is no perfect solution.
