McCain's concession speech

Postby brinstar » Wed Nov 05, 2008 12:03 am

was pretty classy, I must say (with the exception of his praise of Palin)

if only his crowd was half as classy ;\

He should have reprimanded them from booing and reminded them that we're all Americans.

The worse part of it was the "Sarah, Sarah" shouting. My god, are these people crazy? Sarah Palin should never be seen outside of Alaska again, but I think that the party has a lot of high hopes for her.

I think Sarah Palin has lots of High Hopes for her.... when you have country bumpkin religous nazi's and neo con war mongers it's not hard to see that you will be the pin-up girl for the party

Listen to the speech, he did remind them we're all Americans. And his face said everything with their booing.
I swear, I thought he was going to tell the crowd to shut the fuck up.

Indeed, he was far more classy than the crowd was. Again, if it had been the 2000 McCain running in this election, the one who really did act like a maverick, and was willing to do things like call out the religious right for the agents of intolerance that they are, I would have been far far better disposed towards him. I really respected the McCain of 2000. THIS version of McCain, however, apparently decided early on to abandon everything he stood for in 2000 and turn into Bush v2.0, started cozying up to the far far right, running a rovian style campaign, etc. The minute he abandoned the center to pander to the radical right was when I lost my respect for him.

As for Palin, I don't understand her popularity with the far-right either. Then again, at one point Dan Quayle was ragingly popular with the same crowd too, so apparently they don't seem to hold IQ levels in high regard.

LOL, in truth, no, i think there would have been some near riot type events.

I think McCain did a good job and put his audience in check where it needed it, I really saw nothing wrong, well except the kudos to Palin, that was wrong :). She looked like she was about to cry.
