"Graduating in 1948, he moved his young family to West Texas and entered the oil business, becoming a millionaire by the age of 40. He became involved in politics soon after founding his own oil company, serving as a member of the House of Representatives, among other positions."

no cheating...who is this? it made me laugh when I read it out loud...just hearing myself say it. try it.

Yes sir.

My son was surprised to learn that Gdub wasn't born in Texas, so I was reading some of the history of the family to him and when I went to papa's page, I began to read that second line out loud and literally, laughed through it. I was in high school when he was president, didn't really have the use of internet and certainly didn't pay attention back then. I guess I could've known that all this time, but seeing that on Wikipedia literally gave me a belly laugh.

My son said, "I'm finding out a lot things I didn't know about my President." ha!

It seems to me that things just blow over people's heads, like who is thinking these days? The bailouts, for perfect example. The people do not want it. It goes through. No one does anything about it. Who's writing letters? I don't get how this blackmail can even happen in front of everyone's eyes. Literally...powerful people just bullying each other with threats.

Saw this today:

Anyway, I thought it was funny when I read years later, at the end of Gdub's term, that his dad was a millionaire by 40 due to the oil industry and became a politician directly after. Helloooooo...haha, I am not trying to sound anything but frustrated at some of the stuff that seems to be so damning or just straight up wrong, and no one seems to notice or care. Some folks really are freaking out about Obama right now. I'm curious how he'll be viewed years after his term.

Will he be the guy that doesn't get appreciated for what he's done til it's over? Is it that the people will not be able to give him the credit of doing anything right because of the focus to do something wrong? The republicans are sure he's pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. Is that really healthy? Or is it just obsessing over bringing someone down? There isn't anything wrong with looking into someone's history to answer questions about someone's life, especially someone in world view, who, according to CNN is the about to be the most powerful man in the world. (Wait, our president is the most powerful man in the world? weird...)

The lady in the freeze frame on that video looks like she has a huge turd on deck ready to roll on out.

And the dude looks like Gandalf with a haircut and a tie.

Why the fuck do they insist on calling 25billion car companies asking for bailout. They are asking for a LOAN, banks are the ones who got bailout of free money. One in ten people in US work for automotive industry, if big 3 go bankrupt, the housing collapse will feel like good times.

Well, I thought, technically, the plan is to recoup all the costs of the 700 billion (yeah right).

Working for an auto-company, I can tell you, things are pretty shitty around these parts. I've had the unfortunate pleasure of seeing some grown men cry :( as they go through the office after getting a pink slip. No not everyone gets that options but HR seems to have a heart (if you can call it that) when someone has put in 15 years and gets canned 45 days before x-mas :(

That was a good blurb on NPR and the local news the other day though, I think a lot of folks may think the UAW is a good reason why the auto's are where they are, however I think if you really look into it, a lot of it is because of exec's (I don't me the ones with O in their title either), get free cars, free gas, free insurance, etc. Lots and lots of "free" for them and $$$ for the company. That should be the first type shit to go before one UAW worker loses their job, and yet, still today, if you're grade e (not clear on the scales) you get all this free spiffy shit on the back of the company.
