You know, I thought your last avatar was disturbing (though admittedly, the video is very, very cool), but this new one you've got is just amazingly creepy to me. Maybe it's because of the happy sunny setting in the background. :rofl:

On topic:
Anyone remember Star Trek 4? (speaking of transparent aluminum - thanks Mart).
It's people like her that are going to do this planet in - they will give the go ahead to just say "Fuck it!" to the endangered animals of our oceans while simultaneously destroying and polluting the habitat. Then, when all is said and done, they will blame Canada or something.
Gawd she is infuriating. How can anyone honestly be endeared to her?

Where exactly in the article does she attempt to "block" their listing?

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin questioned the scientific evidence that the population was declining and lobbied for a six month delay to count the whales.


Seems reasonable to me. Finding that the number indeed have not stabilized to where they want them, they're now protected.

I think carpenter ants should be protected. I would like them listed immediately. All impending government functions that might affect carpenter ants should be halted until the impact on the ants population can be evaluated.

Maybe that's a bit of hyperbole, but it's completely allegory.
