holy shit ya'll

Post by brinstar »

wish i had $1600 to blow on a keyboard

each frickin KEY is a tiny organic LED screen that shows the key's current function. if you go on the demo page you can see how it acts-- i am particularly impressed with the Half-Life gaming button set, how awesome is that???

Yeah, this has been out for awhile.

If I ever have money to burn I'd get one just to show off my nerdiness to people lol

Das keyboard is hilarious.

I used to change the letters around on the keyboards in school to fuck with noobs.

I've been a touch typist for a while now, I don't really get the attraction to remappable keys

seems counterintuitive

well how much do you even use your computer for?

remapping kanji in japanese to single keys instead of lengthy three key strokes, or remapping the comma in russian to a single key would be really nice. chinese would be a lot easier, too. once the prices drop on these types of keyboards they'll probably become the norm.... i'd say within 5 or 10 years. And if you're a scientist, the ability to remap lots of scientific notation to keys would be awesome, instead of having to seperately manufacture emac boards or stuff like the space cadet etc...

remappable keys will be the future. everyone will just carry around little cards with their personal keyboard setups and just plug it into blank remappable keyboards i bet

do it all in software now for all my terminal emulators (different stuff depending on the series of cisco router/switch, juniper, alcatel, etc etc

i'm still not looking at the keyboard for that stuff (the ability to program hotkeys is one thing, having it display what each key is doing is kinda goofy, to me)

heh, I told a female software developer friend of mine about this thing, and gave her the link, and found her response amusing:

But, but... it's not ergonomic! :p

I mean, gee, if they're gonna charge you 1600 bucks for the thing, they might as well make an ergonomic version, rite? ;) rofl.

haha i think that's just a gamer's wet dream more or less. my friends bought themselves backlight keyboards for playing in their lonely caves. they're pretty cool but it made me go out and buy some logitech keyboard that has no lights on it whatsoever as retaliation. it doesn't even have a caps lock light. i'm thinking i'll paint the keys over black and pretend i'm cool

and ya, arlos, for $1600 you'd think they'd have an ergonomic one

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. I can hardly type on a regular flat keyboard anymore.
