What do you guys think of Peter Schiff?

Postby KaiineTN » Fri Jan 09, 2009 12:39 am

He seems to make a lot of sense to me, and that's scary.

What do I think of Peter Schiff? I think I'm grateful that I have no sound on my computer.

actually what he is saying is very likely.. borrowing trillions of more money to shovel at the problem is just going to cause sky high inflation. im fairly lucky, sure im unemployed and cant seem to find a job that pays better than minimum wage but at least my mortgage is paid off. when the shit really hits the fan people are going to long for the gold ole days of the great depression

I'm really torn between expecting inflation or deflation. Peter obviously concludes inflation. I'm kind of leaning towards double digit deflation in the short term, and inflation in the long.

I just don't know what to do in order to best protect what little wealth I have.

If you're concerned about protecting your money, invest it.

I had 20% of my retirement invested in gold bullion (physical) 3 yrs ago. Now it's 50% of my net worth and unfortunately that came without adding to my position. I wish I would have listened to my gut and got out of the market more than I did. I still think silver under $11/oz is a good buy and may buy as many of those I can afford soon.

Gold is going to drop when demand for the dollar goes up with the next crash, if my deflation feeling right. Gold has always been a good store of value... But the only reason gold went up during the depression is because it was tied to the dollar. On the other hand, if Peter is right and inflation hits hard, I'll be kicking myself for not owning some.

no one knows where it will go, if they did everyone would be investing accordingly... and of course gold is up right now, it's natural, and once the economy gets better gold will hit the shitta again. the key is only investing to the extent that you can risk and you will be allright.

Put the little money you have in a shoebox and bury it in the backyard~ so unless a dog goes digging your g2g. Problem solved.

and that makes me think of a funny story. My grandma died in 1996. She always hid her cash around the house, in random places. We are still finding stashes she didnt tell papaw about around everytime we go to the house. I found 600 bucks in a loose wallboard in the basement closet on christmas day rofl. She was the biggest packrat Ive ever seen.
