Anyone have a recommendation for a video card under $160? PCI Express 2.0 x16

This is the one I just got recently, and have been quite happy with:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130339

Not quite the top top end of the 9800 line, but 1 down, and it's a name brand, pretty much.

You know, i looked at that also. I've had some bad luck with EVGA in the past.

I usually go with asus but for some reason there is only 1 9800 card listed at the moment. All the rest are deactivated.

Really? Wow... I have all good stories with EVGA. I'm not brand-specific by any means... I'll buy MSI or BFG... don't really care. But the two times I had to RMA something to EVGA (mb and a video card), they were fantastic. One of the best RMA experiences I ever had. Top notch support all the way around.

Ya I'll admit the RMA process was good. But I had to do it 5 times for a 6800 card. Finally said fuck it and got an ASUS which has worked fine ever since.

6800 is getting on the slow side now days though, especially with the lich king.

go to tigerdirect, they have a BFG 9800GTX+ for $150 after a $30 mail-in rebate during the month of january

i am a BFG guy, i bought one of their cards back in the day because of the lifetime warranty and the free 24/7 tech support, and when the card melted they sent me a (slightly) better one with no hassle. haven't had one melt since then, but nevertheless i am a loyal customer

just a heads-up though, this card is fuckin' HUGE. i had to move my hard drives just to get it to fit

Thanks for the tigerdirect idea. Totally forgot about them.

XFX GeForce 9800 GTX +
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 3&CatId=28

BFG GeForce 9800 GTX +
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=3670

Leaning towards the XFX as it has the airflow blowing out the back of the case which is more inline with my current airflow setup.

haha florida sucks

so on tigerdirect, you pay 150 after rebate + 14.50 tax + 3 for shipping = 167.50 on the BFG card

and on tigerdirect, you pay 160 after rebate + 14.50 tax + 3 for shipping = 177.50 on the XFX card

and on newegg, you pay 170 after rebate + 9 for shipping = 179 on the XFX card

even looking at it from the "cheap bastard" angle i'd still have to vote BFG from tiger :dunno:
