We were late with a Christx thread too! and halloween, I think.

I came to Aiken for the weekend where Scott and his Mom live. Yesterday I got breakfast in bed, and got to roll around all day doing nothing. I wasn't allowed! Though, I did join him for a trip to the grocery store.

Yesterday evening, Scott's Mother invited her beau, and two of her very good friends that are married, and we had a dinner party for six, which she and Scott prepared for us. It was lovely!

We enjoyed as an hors-d'oeuvre shrimp paste and crackers. The first course was a creamy tomato bisque, and for the entree, grilled cornish hens with warm potato and portabello mushroom salad, grilled squash and red peppers. Dessert was a chocolate mousse cake with raspberries and strawberries.

We had a variety of red wines that we seemed to go through very well. Scott and I broke away from the older folks and watched High Fidelity. Apropros ^_^

Lots 'o sniffling here as well, Alex. Hope you feel better soon. Keep your nose blown, (all that wants to come out!) and drink your tea with honey. That helps break up the mucus and expectorate better. Vitamin C, Vitamin B12 and sunshine on your face are good also!

I made a picnic consisting of the following: Fresh berries, home made guacamole (her favorite), american cavier with creame fresh and fresh points of toast, my moms homemade roasted red peppers, sushimi tuna (I cut a corner and picked up the seaweed salad, pickled ginger and wasabi from a local sushi restaurant) flax and honey crisp crackers, godiva chocolate coated berries for desert, water and Champagne. Plan was to take said basket to beach for dinner but it got dark early before we worked up an appetite so we ate it on my patio by candles overlooking the intercoastal.

Helped her friend move a few pieces of furniture with my truck.

Then we had lunch at a neat place we'd never been to before, but she had been wanting to go to (I had beer cheese soup).

Then we went beer, wine, and herb seed shopping.
Pyramid Hefeweizen, FCB Chocolate Stout, Full Sail, & some Avery. A bottle of Spanish red & some German Mulled Wine. Something like 12 different herb seeds, I forget what they are now. Also some Australian licorice (which was some of the best I've ever had) & a bunch of specialty chocolates.

Went back to her place, she started warming the mulled wine, shared some with some other friends who were around. Discussed what everybody wanted to do, pregame drank a few beers, settled on going to an art show a few friends were hosting and then going to see Digable Planets at a local venue. Well, Digable Planets were late to start we found out, so we went to the Columbus Brewing Company and had a few pints and some late snack dinners. Went to see Digable Planets, danced for a while, went home and slipped into bed.

I did the cliche thing... bought her flowers, chocolates (Ghirardelli), and a card. Then I took her to lunch, and took her to a movie ((Friday the 13th) lawl). It was the only thing playing when we got there. We got engaged New Year's Eve, although Valentine's Day was plan B if I chickened out on New Year's Eve, but I didn't chicken out. :P

I found out my mom might have cancer, my grandmother was hospitalized, and I still only see my girlfriend a few hours a week.

      Vday was fucking awesome.
