That's why it is different, "you stupid fuck".

amazing. i don't even think any vegetarians i know are hippies. most of em don't eat meat because they don't like how it tastes or how it makes em feel. and that's the bottom line. i know that's an amazing concept for you to wrap your dumb fuckin head around, but try

Show me where I said people who don't like the taste or any other legitimate reason was the problem I pointed out. Seriously, you should try reading some of what I say instead of fly off at the handle like the halfwit you appear to be at times. (you flip out like a rabid gorilla every few months and disappear from the board)

I'm a pathetic loser too? Damn, I must have missed the monthly newsletter. Could you send me yours when you're done with it?

I must have been taken off the mailing list.

I am perfectly capable of discerning between the two. That's half of my complaint.

Why have a moral aversion to eating meat when you're obviously not holding the same towards humans? The reason isn't relevant in this discussion other than the ones that have been presented already.

Religious reasons, preference to taste, etc.

Knowing you might someday have to kill a person for whatever reason, and at the same time refuse to eat meat for no other reason than "I don't like animals being killed for food" is idiotic.

You're wrong because people are different. There are a hundred reasons why a person could be a vegetarian and in the military. So just stop.

Try to name ten separate reasons. You can't.

My specific gripe is with what I had said clearly. A distorted and retarded view of morality pertaining to the killing of an animal for food. Religion is another topic entirely and I have no problem with a religious reason for not eating meat, or specific things.

I wish. I've only gotten one that was edible. Cheese tortellini, that was good shit. And it was filling (like all MREs are if you can stomach them).

Harrison i would agree with you if we were talking about MURDERERS not wanting to eat meat, but we are not. We are talking about soldiers who sometimes have to kill in self defense or in defense of thier country. I can see how you could be for SERVING YOUR COUNTRY and still be against what you feel is senseless killing of animals.

The whole killing morality that baffles you prolly goes a lil like this ...... Killing for no reason is wrong but sometimes people do things that make you have to kill them.

Its not killing these people have a problem with bozo its the reasons behind it. If a dude is charging at you with an rpg you dont have much choice but to smoke him. You could still feel that there was no reason to kill a cow when you could eat greens though. It really is that simple

That said i think vegitariens are fuckin wack but to each his own. If a soldier is in the feild and not eating meat makes him feel healthy or a lil closer to home or whatever than what exactly is your problem ?

Ill keep it really short.

It is possible to kill a man and still have moral issues about killing.

Part of military training is learning how to murder. The advancement of weapon technology is used to make us more efficient killers. Yes, the reason for the military is to protect the country, however, one of the methods of protection is murder. It's a requirement in the military to be a more efficient killer than your everyday citizen. There's no use making it sound pretty. It is what it is. You're not holding an automatic weapon and grenades because you're engaging in a duck hunting contest against the insurgents (well, I guess if we did that and DIck Cheney was there that might be plausible). They aren't throwing discs in the air for us to shoot. You're there to kill em be they kill you or the people you don't want them to kill.

Now, vegetarianism by moral standards while being enlisted is kind of dumb. Harrison is just saying that someone who completely changes their lifestyle to avoid harming animals yet enlists into an establishment where you should know full well you may cause the death of another human life is stupid. I dunno, I kind of agree. Having no qualms about killing people but protecting animals is almost a betrayal of your own species. That's like Tom Brady rooting for the Cowboys.

Of course, living your life however you wanna live it is cool. If you want to not kill animals that's fine. I respect that. Just don't be ok with killing the most important animal, which is humans.

Now as far as any other kind of vegetarian in the military whether it be for health or religious reasons, sure. I'm not educated in the subject enough to comment on the health benefits of being a vegetarian so it's hard to say. Personally, I'd rather take the risks that come with eating meat because meat just tastes damn good.

I think this is highly speculative, and a similar topic was discussed recently.

top of the food chain =/= most important, imo. simply means we consume the most resources. I guess it all depends on what you qualify as important, though. Is important categorized as those who have the ability to be the most technologically advanced? Sure, I guess you could say that - but then you have to consider that those technical advances serve our purpose only, and then we're kind of only important to ourselves. Is human importance specific to only certain humans, or are we also considering human scum important? Is it okay to be a vegetarian if you're okay with a child molester getting shot in the face?

I dunno, I just don't think it's as simple as that statement, really.

I wasn't going to but I will, who says humans are the most important animal? We are the worst sort of animal and are the only ones that do NOT follow the laws of nature (cuz we gots big brains and minds). You make it sound like if we all disappeared the world would be worse off, unfortunately the opposite is true.
