Just think Harri, you may get a chance to shoot someone in combat in North Korea, I'm sure that was just what you expected when you enlisted /sarcasm off.

N Korea IMO is a bigger threat or perhaps at the same level as Iran. I think NK is worse a bit though because they already have the tech.

I didn't read the link but I'm assuming this is re: the ICBM test, o wait, sorry, the "rocket test" to see if NK can launch rockets to space.

If we do put armed forces there or hardware to shoot down ICBM's, I'm not sure how good an idea that is. Not saying it is the wrong thing to do, but who would get egg on their face if we shoot one down but it still explodes, or if we "miss" and it still hits its target.

Too many crazies run the show in too many third world countries.

I would disagree. I think North Korea is a MUCH bigger threat than Iran. North Korea HAS nukes and quite literally doesn't give a fuck what anyone else thinks, except maybe China. It also is a completely totalitarian society run by the whim of 1 person, with no sort of check or balance to his whims.

Iran, on the other hand, actually has a political system, even if it's different than ours. Also, it knows quite well that Israel has nukes itself, and if Iran ever a) actually developed one, and b) popped one off, that Israel would turn Iran into so much radioactive glass, with a good chance the US would lob a few in there for fun as well.

To be quite serious, while obviously Iran's support of terror is a problem, I don't share the worry that they will either start firing off WMDs or distribute them either. First, their population was the victim of WMDs themselves, so I think some of the popular will for their use, barring invasion or something similar, just wouldn't be there. Also, as I said, they KNOW that if a terrorist cell uses anything remotely nuclear that Israel and the US is just going to assume it was them, no matter how much they protest, and will react accordingly. They're not so crazy as to risk utter annihilation. Not NOW anyway. Early 80s, maybe a different story. But not now.

North Korea, however, has hundreds of thousands or more of its people starving to death because of bad harvests, and still turns away food shipments for no apparent reason, and still dedicates vast amounts of its GDP to military spending rather than actually feed its people. They manifestly don't give a flying fuck, as the people have no say whatsoever in the government, so popular will is nonexistent. The only country with ANY influence on North Korea is China, and even then it's not much. Plus we know for damn sure they HAVE nukes already, so...

Yeah, if anyone starts flinging nukes around, it'll be North Korea. 2nd place in the probability chart is Pakistan and India, if there's serious enough provocation over Kashmir. They were at the brink of it just a few years ago, and the Mumbai attack ratcheted the tension level way back up again.

Another one of the few times I agree with Arlos completely~ Korea is fucking crazy. Its a good thing they dont let people like me run the military, because I would treat them like a cold - get rid of it before it gets worse. In other words, kill the fucker before he kills me, because god knows he would if he knew he could.

I'd laugh if Harrison got killed by an Asian.

He can complain to God that the Asian was a cheater.

Not really the UN's fault.

China and Russia will both say no to any new sanctions. Obama is trying to be all "heeey buddy, lets be friends" and won't pressure China. Military action is obviously not an option. Can't really do anything :dunno:

Ok, so NK just fired off a missile and this pissed off China real bad. This could get really ugly.

NK has every right to use space, just as we or any other nation does. I don't get why everyone's going apeshit. NK is a sovereign nation, they do not need to abide by UN regulations, just as we don't need to.

It doesn't work that way.

You honestly believe they fired that missile to put a satellite into orbit?

It's the same fucking Taepodong-2 they were developing to be able to reach the west coast of the U.S.

It was a flagrant violation of the sanctions already imposed on them and a slap in the face to the world.

It does work that way Harrison. You can't give some nations rights and deny them to others just because they don't want to play by your rules. We don't live in a world ruled by one government, by one collective group calling the shots and telling us what we can or can't do.

Sanctions are ridiculous. It's just bullying, nations teaming up on the little guy to force them to play by the rules. Sanctions could easily be perceived as an act of aggression, an act of war. North Korea is standing up for its sovereignty, its right to not play by our rules, and that is admirable. It doesn't make them a threat. If you think North Korea is a threat, you're retarded. They have in insignificant military, a failing communist state, and damn well know that if they attack anyone, they'll get assraped in quick order.

I can't believe I even wasted the 30 seconds to do this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Korean_military

North Korea is the most militarised country in the world today[1], having the fourth largest standing army in the world, at an estimated 1.1 million armed personnel, with about 20% of men ages 17-54 in the regular armed forces.[2] It also has the Worker-Peasant Red Guard, a reserve force comprising 3.5m+ (IISS), 3.8m (USMC) or 4.7m (State Department) militia. It operates an enormous network of military facilities scattered around the country, a large weapons production basis, and an extremely dense air defence system.

Insignificant indeed...
