I was watching Axe Men the other day and theres this one guy who does some kind of logging where he pulls waterlogged wood out of rivers and carves it up into expensive ass furniture and mantles, and godamn is it beautiful. It has something to do with the minerals in the wood and the length of time its been underwater or some shit like that. But damn it looks good.

for me, the most interesting step was with the tables, when they hand polish them
there's no varnish or anything like that, just tons of elbow grease
