I never much cared for his music, but damn, I always wanted to be able to do the moonwalk, lol

practice in front of a mirror. youtube has thousands of videos about how to slide/glide etc
Re: Michael Jackson dead
Anyone that says they didn't like Michael Jackson even a little bit is a liar.
Re: Michael Jackson dead
*shrug* Believe what you will, I never liked his music. Now, it wasn't an atavistic hatred reaction like, say, the Bee Gees generated, but that doesn't mean I LIKED it. Back in the early 80s I was either listening to my parents' albums (Beatles, the Doors, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, etc., folk stuff like Peter, Paul & Mary, and a wide range of classical stuff) or I was listening to stuff like The Cars (I wore out my copy of Heartbeat City that I picked up at the grand age of 14 in '84) or some of the Eurythmics stuff, Van Halen or even ZZ Top.

Michael Jackson or not, that's a solid list of stuff for an impressionable young mind.
Re: Michael Jackson dead
In 1983/4 I was metal up your ass! Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Anthrax, Scorpions, etc but I wasn't too proud to pop my Thriller cassette in the boom box while playing street hockey.
Re: Michael Jackson dead
Hey, more power to ya. I didn't get into metal until the later 80s (which is when I discovered the Dead Kennedys and Pink Floyd as well).
Anyway, as I said, I wasn't in any way trying to claim the man sucked or had no talent or any such thing, that WOULD be idiotic. Just that I didn't care for what he produced. I'm the same way with Prince, actually. Respect the hell out of his talent, just don't care to listen to his stuff.

Re: Michael Jackson dead
it's all got a time and a place. i couldn't imagine sitting around and listening to a michael jackson record. that stuff's made for the dance floor and should stay there
same with swing music. listening to it's just meh. but when you're actually doing what it was intended for, it becomes another level of awesome because there's nothing else like it

Same here.
I was a Metal head in high school, and still had Thriller. Pretty much everyone did in my school.

We had mostly "rockers" at my high school. The only people who listened to MJ were the few hairbear chicas we unfortunately had at our school.

Sometimes journalists make me throw up in my mouth a little. I saw a magazine yesterday (I think it was "OK!") whose cover was a massive blurry closeup of MJ's face as he was being carried out to be revived. Totally tacky. I dunno if I'm out of the loop and it's old news, but man - I saw that in the aisle and I was like "wow, that's classy."
