Re: Borderlands
I'd like to see a demo before I commit to buying it. I pretty much won't buy a game without playing a demo first. Exceptions being Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
Re: Borderlands
it really looks like a cell shader version of left 4 dead

so fill us in on what it's like
Re: Borderlands
It's a cross between fallout and wow. It's like fallout because it takes place in a post apocolyptic type setting and it's a shooter (first person though).
It's like WoW in a ton of ways. You grab a bunch of quests from various NPCs and "Bounty Boards" (wanted posters), you go out and fulfill the quests and then you turn them in. The reward for the quests are weapons, shields, xp and money. The quests are level based, you'll start seeing quests 3 levels above you but should probably wait until they are even considering attacking anything two levels above you is pretty difficult. One on one it might be ok but there are usually adds. Weapons are color coded, "white, green, blue, purple, orange", just like WoW. Then there is the talent tree. You only have four classes to choose from but with the talent tree and over a million different weapons (literally) there is am infinite number of specs. The talent tree works exactly like WoW, when I say "exactly" i mean there are three trees to choose from, by the time your top level you can probably fill out two of the three trees. The first two sets of talents in each tree require 5 points each and talent points are aquired via leveling. So it's exactly like WoW in this regard. And when you play with friends in co-op, everyone has their own job. If you're a Solider with support class, you drop turrets that work just like a shaman's totems. You have turrets that tick healing, you have turrets that tick ammo and your group has to stand close to the turret to get the benefit.
In short, the game is WoW in a fallout setting for the console.

Re: Borderlands

Re: Borderlands
........ why?
i thought mass effect sucked when i realized it's about as deep as a puddle and every quest came out of a cookie cutter and every planet has the same shit and blah blah. not a game worth more than one play thru if you can even stomach it for that
the only things i really enjoyed about mass effect were its style and its controls
fallout 3 on the other hand....

Re: Borderlands
Mass Effect is good for a single play through. That's all it is for though, like most RPGs.
I still think it's one of the best games I've played through.

Re: Borderlands
I didn't think it was spectacular
it was enjoyable, and I had fun with it
the story was alright, and the action was fun.
I wouldn't play it again tho

Downloading Borderlands now. I was fairly impressed with it when a friend brought over his PS3 to play for a night.
Let's hope they didn't botch the PC version :\

Depending on what I feel like after my morning run, if you're up for it, I will play if you want.
Right now I am barely in the mood to continue breathing, so we'll see *shrug*

Re: Borderlands
Ugh, my body can't handle drinking anymore.
I had like MAYBE 5-6 drinks total, and I'm hungover. That's fucked up lol
Only one of them was an actual drink, too. The rest was just beer. Gin and Tonic with lime, mmmmmm so good.
