As a guy who lives in an apartment and went through absolute hell trying to get a satellite dish installed on the screened in patio (for Sunday Ticket purposes only), I don't get why in today's increasing internet speeds that they don't provide a streaming service of sorts.
Like your box is connected to your network and you just have an account similar to netflix. You have a remote control and everything but when you send commands to your box, it just links up to a "satellite farm" of sorts and brings back a menu just like what you're used to seeing. I'd gladly wait a few extra seconds if I didn't have to worry about having the extra equipment on my patio / house and I'm sure that would work a LOT better for apartment dwelling folks that don't face SW or have stipulations on being able to mount dishes.
I know you can buy the extra 10 bucks a month "on the go" to get the games to your computer which in turn you could display on your TV, but in a smaller-is-better, high speed connectivity world, having less equipment would be the direction they were heading.

No, in the US it's a contractual agreement between the NFL and DirecTV. The ONLY way to get Sunday Ticket is via DirecTV. Cable isn't allowed to offer it.
