I find your post to be insulting. My point is that where you live might be the safest place in the world and more power to you for it. Detroit and the metro area is not and I just want to stay alive and live my life.I dont want to be robbed I dont want to be maimed and I dont want to be killed. Where I live the people arent much better than the animals and there are real life crackheads roaming about who might fuck you up just for another hit. There are missing posters for teenage girls in store windows, people get stabbed and shot, and everytime you come home you get to thank god or your lucky stars or whatever that your belongings are still in your house. believe i suggested that a page or two ago. here in lincoln there are only two or three neighborhoods i can think of where you don't want to be out at night (and i used to live in one of them) but outside of those smallish areas a dude of my build won't get messed with anywhere. we also don't have a real gang problem, aside from a few wannabes who claim to be affiliated with GD or whatever - and any real GD would smoke them if they flashed shit in a real situation. my current hood isn't the greatest either but i know a few people who've been around here for a long time and they tell me if you don't mess with someone they won't mess with you. our police are actually really really good for a city our size, their clearance rate on violent crimes is ridic. point being, once self-defense stops being a factor you won't think your guns are all that important

Im working on getting a new job and getting myself back into school. Also while its a warzone this is my home and where I come from.Ive lived in the shadow of Detroit my entire life Ive got friends here my moms grave is here. It's a major sociological problem with roots in poverty, drugs, organized crime, gang activity(not sure if this falls under organized crime in the same sense as the Mob, etc.) and so on.

To say we have high gun crime because people are obsessed with guns is laughably off-base. If no one had a perceived need to kill another, there would be no murder of any kind. There will ALWAYS be murder, period. The method in which it is done is of no real consequence if you ask me, barring genocide with WMD.
