Not on this board they don't, which is why I generally veer away from these topics. You have the simple GOP evil/DNC good crew, a few pseudo libertarians, and then you have Mindia. Not really a good basis for really any actual discussions.

All politicians are self serving crooks. The big issues discussed here again and again have very little to do with day to day legislation and solely are wedge items made to help fill the coffers of political groups to keep the wheel turning.

These few wedge items are built to help people ignore that both parties goals are to be 'big tent' parties to help control the power and money. It'll keep going back and forth as popular opinion switches, but in the end they're the same damn thing.

And you're no different, defending rightwing wedge issues like Intelligent Design and the Iraq War.

For all your pseudo-intellectual conservativism, it's all just a smokescreen to defend a political ideology that was passed down to you from your upbringing. You're no different, you just happen to be wrong about just about every issue while still being a shill.

Not sure what point you're making, especially when you have a black socialist Muslim running your country.

Wow, I actually agree with Spazz on most of that.

GunZ - Making them illegal would make no difference. Here's where me living overseas gives me some outside experience! In China guns are illegal and they just run around stabbing each other. Reading the China Daily on a regular basis can be reather interesting. Making guns illegal would only take guns out of the hands of people who use them recreationaly.

Gay Rights - I have no issue with gay rights. Homosexuality is illegal in Malaysia, and you will see more gays here than just about anywhere I've been (Thailand obviously doesn't count). They have absolutely no rights here and can be thrown in prison for being gay, yet they are out there right in the open as flamboyant as can be. The law won't change their nature.

Military - I can't agree with Spazz on this one. I believe USA having an extremely powerful military to be of utmost importance. If not for the reason of controling other countries, how about the reason to control the seas from pirates? Of course this is an issue in only small parts of the world, but it is a problem that could grow. I also believe in the importance of protecting resources. This doesn't mean going into countries and taking what we want. This means keeping X country from stealing resources from Y country through mass blood shed. I believe wholeheartedly in slowing China's military influence over Southeast Asia. People in SEA are becoming more and more worried as China becomes increasingly bold. China WILL just take the resources. No... China is not the enemy... certainly a concern though.

Abortion - Completely against it. This is for relgious reasons. You might say I should not impose my beliefs on others, but there is no way that I can support something I believe to be outright murder.

Economy - I'm guessing I disagree with you here Spazz. Like you I am for small government, but I sincerley believe that the wealthy are generally smart people. Rich people don't get rich by sticking their cash in the bank. They get rich by reinvesting their money, which creates jobs, and in the long run brings up the small guy. Social programs do nothing but keep the poor person poor. Humans need to be in a bad situation to want to work their way out of it. If a kid is spoon-fed his entire life that kid won't have the motivation to help himself. Yes, some would fail to help themselves and suffer. That's an uncontrollable factor. I'm a conservative fiscal nut when it comes to economy.

Tax - Get rid of medicaid and other expensive social programs. Change the system to make it more efficient. This could be done. Lower taxes. I'd like to bring Hong Kong up as an example. HK has no need for military, which saves them some cash of course. HK income tax is 16.5%. It is considered the most free economy in the world. Shit, the strategy works for them. Have any of you been to HK recently? The place is thriving.... beautiful city... So yah, lower taxes and allow businesses to thrive.

Cuz Mark acts like the foremost authority on all things American even though most of us have been to barbecue's that are longer than the amount of time he's spent on American soil.

Postby Markarado » Thu May 12, 2011 8:42 pm

I dunno we have some pretty long BBQ's here as well, but I swear 90% of it is always shrimp.

The left wing on this board is going to attack anyone with conservative views. It really has nothing to do with me personally. They also don't realize that there's a possibility I might have a valuable point of view considering my international experience.

All Mark has done is parrot the most basic Fox news talking points. Like he's reciting his views directly from some conservative talking head on TV. There's no substance to anything and no real knowledge or depth to anything he expresses as "his" opinion. As far as I can tell he has no opinion of his own and relies entirely on some propaganda to tell him what to think.

I'm with Drem. I don't understand the Mark Hate.

I think some of the stuff directed at Mark is a bit over the top, but that's just my opinion. I don't see Mark bomb throwing as much as Mindia,

People get nasty when politics are involved. I'm guilty at times too, and I should take the high road more, too.

Simple rule, if you post anything political or controversial on a board with as wide a demographic as this one, expect to be flamed or insulted. It's personal, but really it's not personal.

This coming from someone who provides nothing more substantive to any political discussion than the big black dude from Trading Places who says 'YEAH' in support of his friends and their MSNBC talking points posted.....

I got tired of discussing political topics on this board 10 years ago. There were some decent debates back then. Since then the opposing viewpoint has been you and your two retarded minions. *yawn*

Fox News was the only American news channel banned in China while I lived there... just a random tid bit of info.

Ten years ago we had some great political discussions on this board (in an entertainment sense for the most part). It would get really heated up, and a lot of us said some pretty stupid shit. I'm no exception - most of the hate towards me comes from statements made 10 years ago. I'd think you guys could find something new to be stressed out about.
