Blast from the past

If you're waxing nostalgic for the 8-bit computing/gaming days of yore, and software emulation alone fails to satisfy, then perhaps adding the physical element will seal the deal.

The Commodore 64 personal computer

It's composed of modern components but contained in a replica case, the classic beige frame with brown keys, red 'power on' indicator light now doubles as an on/off switch. It features C64 software emulation, to eventually include a 'Commodore OS' (a Linux derivative), with Ubuntu 10.10 acting as a stand-in until the former becomes available.

Base price for basic model is $595. The first shipments are expected to arrive mid to late June.

But what I don't see available is a 5.25" floppy drive to go with it, nor a compatible game slot for my 'Temple of Apshai' cartridge, which I'm sure I can find if I rummage around...
