I'm not contending that. My statement was in response to Tossica's comment about how "grass roots movements aren't funded by billionnaires blah blah blah". The Tea Party is a grass roots movement, and so is OWS.

you know, it finally occurred to me over the weekend that there is only one possible explanation for the claims you have made in this thread regarding OWS, the TP, and your specific use of the phrase "grass roots" -

somehow you've gone all this time without picking up that a "grass roots" movement, by its very definition, is not funded and organized by outside interests

you cannot logically claim the tea party is (still) grass roots while simultaneously admitting it is bankrolled by the koch brothers - and on the flip side, you cannot call OWS a grass roots movement while simultaneously alleging it is funded by soros. in pure point of fact, neither claim jives with the actual definition of what it means to be "grass roots."

that should clear a lot of things up over the past couple of pages rofl

One of the things that initially impressed me about Obama was the way in which he handled the Jeremiah Wright controversy. This was pretty early in his election bid and I was certainly not a big Obama fan at this point. I found the way that he came out and addressed the 'scandal' to be refreshing and straight-forward. This was the type of person I wanted in the oval office. I wasn't completely sold on him over this simple point but I certainly took note.

Could you say the same thing here? Herman Cain is dodging this controversy left and right. He isn't tackling it head on like he should. Would he do this in the White House? Show some fucking accountability.

Finally, this is just another example of the hypocrisy found within the GOP. I read a survey that showed 62% of the self-described republicans polled answered with, 'do not care' about the controversy. He's up to five AFFAIRS now and multiple harassment allegations and they don't even care. But let's put the entire nation through a nightmare impeachment and screech the brakes on all federal process for an entire year because Bill Clinton got a fucking blowjob. They basically crucified John Edwards over his affair, even going so far as to suggest criminal prosecution. Oh, it's our guy? Do Not Care. Gov Schwarzenegger and Sanford... Sen Larry Craig, David Vitter, Packwood... Rep Newt Gingrich and (rofl) Mark Foley. Fucking hell, some of these people are STILL in power. Don't care!

Yeah, slick willie's extramarital affairs don't count... Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinski, etc etc etc etc etc. He sure hit those head on... with a LIE. Talk about hypocrisy... Oh what a tangled web we weave. FPb was unimpressive from the start. A sophomore senator with a shitty voting record, and before that, a "community organizer." lol. Oh, but barry us good-looking and a terrific orator (thank you teleprompter). Yup, those sure are good reasons to choose the leader of a nation... Then look at what he did when he took office... crippled our police, crippled our military, axed our space program, implemented an unconstitutional and ridiculous health care program, crippled ICE, bowed down to arab leaders and apologized for America's behavior, raised our taxes, increased the national debt substantially, etc etc etc etc. I said it before and I'll say it again... The ONLY this mofakka did right was the cash for clunkers program. Whoop defriggindo. Well, at least it took 99% of the obama 08 bumper stickers off the road.

To me infidelity isn’t a scandal. It’s not a good thing, and it’s certainly not a high mark of character, but it’s not illegal, and it’s really between wife and husband. These things happen every day in the world, and expecting politicians to act differently seems pointless. Sexual harassment on the other hand…not cool. No hypocrisy from left side of things the way I see it. Just you guys…again.

. I agree, but I also find it hilarious that leftist political line-towers are always quick to be judgmental towards conservative candidates, yet when it's one of their own, they're quick to sweep it under the rug and pass it off as not newsworthy or unsubstantial, etc.

wait, what?

Who is ... what? wtf?

I don't give a rat's ass about Herman Cain getting some pussy on the side. I didn't care about Anthony Weiner sending cock shots to a porn star. Go for it. HYPOCRISY is found by the GOP fucking impeaching Clinton and halting the federal government for an entire year yet turning a blind eye when their own party does the same, or far worse. Flipping the fuck out over John Edwards after nominating John fucking McCain for president. Sanctity of marriage is this sacred battle cry that the GOP shouts down the left's throat any time one of ours fucks up, but... stones in glass houses. Sixty-two percent don't even care about Cain's infedility but omfg John Edwards should have been INDICTED.

You're not getting it. Hypocrisy isn't found here because I'm not judging ANYBODY for their "sins." You are, but you're ignoring your own.

I'm talking about the way he's handling controversy - weak. I'm talking about the blind-eye that the GOP turns towards their own moral problems. Get it?

I know what you're trying to say. It's still hypocrisy. You didn't just point out how Cain was handling the allegations, but also opened up a can of worms that I had to stomp on for obvious reasons.

Cain's deficiencies with his presidential run aren't about the accusations (same as Clinton's, and he proved you can win with them), they're about his clear lack of knowledge about anything except running a business. This is obvious to anyone who has watched the debates, or the Libya question, or worse the Cain/Gingrich "Lincoln/Douglas" forum. His performance next to Gingrich was astoundingly embarrassing; he was completely over his head on just about every topic - whether it was deferring answers or bringing up 9/9/9 whenever he could just to fill time.

There's nothing wrong with having a President whose life experience is outside politics, but there's a real problem when you haven't educated yourself about basic issues any citizen should feel competent about, much less what's expected of a potential commander-in-chief.

Not that any candidate is an angelic beacon of moral perfection, but I'm pretty sure this statement has been refuted by his daughter and by others. She didn't have cancer, she had benign tumors removed, and she was the one that initiated the divorce and served the papers after finding out he was having an affair. Not sure why people continuously copy/paste this without actually researching it, I guess that's part of the downgrade of actual reporting and mudslinging we've seen by fanatics from both fan bases.

Just wanted to emphasize that bit there.

Indeed, the fact that it was just him having an AFFAIR with someone while his wife was getting (fortunately benign) tumors removed, instead of breaking up with her himself makes the whole thing SO much better, don't you think? TOTALLY not an issue now. Yes, the fact that HE didn't end his marriage after he started fucking a younger woman and instead SHE did means that what he did is completely morally and ethically correct. Oh yes, absolutely. No question.

I'm not sure how you take my factual correction to a story that I seem to read everywhere as someone making him a perfect human being.

There's a vast difference between the correct version (which happens every day tragically, but that's human nature), and what has been repeated over and over again erroneously.

That's just my point, though. There ISN'T a "vast difference" between the two stories. The only difference is in who did the dumping and whether or not her tumors were benign or malign. Hardly earth-shattering differences.

The salient point is STILL the fact that the man was having a long term sexual affair with another woman while his wife was sick. (and I would assume before as well)

I think it's a major difference.

I've always heard or read this topic along the lines of "Gingrich served divorce papers to his wife who was dying of cancer." This has been repeated over and over and still is. The connotation displayed here is that he's clearly evil, and looks to be if accurate. But since it's not accurate, and since it was routine surgery, and they had already been separated, and she served the papers, the picture is now one of thousands that happen every day: an unfortunate decayed marriage that ended in divorce, and one that completely changes the innate emotional response that the former gives.

Your spinning bro. Seriously the guy had a long term affair and he got served papers because of it. How many times has newt been married ? Its hard for me to take dudes like that seriously I dont care what party they come from. Im not cool with Edwards and Im not cool with Newt. I think the potus should be a person with high moral character. Someone who anyone can look to and say I want my children to grow up and carry themselves like that.
