It got me too.
I have two nieces now... Jayden & Braelyn. I hate the mothers for choosing horrible names... and being pro-life whores who ruined the lives of my little brothers.
Re: Life updates
Zoltan hahaha. Poor kids.
Re: Life updates
zoltan is just a joke, right? ...right???!
this makes me think of an episode of happy endings from a couple weeks ago, where max and penny had to babysit max's niece and nephew and their names were django and rope. rope made me rofl my copter.
ETA: i actually went on a couple of dates with a guy named django. he was exactly as insufferable as you would expect someone with that name to be.

Wost names out of my friends and family:
Brayden, Finley, Jacobbe, Phallon, Aiden, Dimitry (which would be a cool name if you're a Russian, but his parents are named "Megan" and "Stephen" so naturally that's what you would name your son, right?). Worse possible pending name? Aurora Rose (which will also go to Megan and Stephen once they have a girl). I also went to high school with a girl named Kjersti, pronounced "Chir-sty", which I actually liked, but I felt sorry for her having to constantly explain to everyone what noise a "kj" combination should make. I think it's Scandinavian.
I also don't understand the parents who give their kids a first name that they refuse to use. My niece named her son Edward Lucas and IMMEDIATELY, while the kid was still in the womb, started calling him "Luke". Why would you not just name him Lucas Edward, then? The kid will constantly have to correct everyone he meets that he likes to be called by a name completely different than his first name.
In nursing school one of my friends worked for DFCS by doing some sort of work on various cases for them. She saw all sorts of fucked up names. Her favorite was "La-ia". Pronounced "Ladashia." Yep. The hyphen was not silent.
I'm on the fence whether I want kids or not, but I sort of have Alexander earmarked for a boy. We toyed with using our dads' names, but Robert Christopher doesn't have a ring to it, and Christopher Robert sounds too much like Christopher Robin, so Alexander it is. I haven't given much consideration to girl names. I really only want a kid if I can be guaranteed a boy

i love this post. there's so much crazy in it, lol. "la-ia" is probably the best part, hahahaha.
i actually kind of like the name aurora but the sleeping beauty connection might be a little too twee. also i like fallon but not phallon; that's just way too close to phallus. and why on earth would a person choose jacobbe over jacob? but dimitry is kind of cute.....

I like that name.
Re: Life updates
i think the worst are when you see guys with girl names like Ashley, Kelly, Courtney. but yea, hippy names like Aurora Rose are weak too

Yep. There is, actually. However, I THINK my really-super-crazy-over-the-top-unhealthily-in-your-face Catholic brother- and sister-in-law opted for it because of Sleeping Beauty rather than the porn star. I think. The sister-in-law does think she's a princess, so that tips the needle heavily towards the Sleeping Beauty side... but you just never know with the ultra Catholics. They've got some weird repressed sexuality thing going on.

Phallon and Jacobbe come from the same family. All their girls have Irish names and the boys have Italian names. The other boy is named Dominicco. The other two girls have semi-normal names (Christianna and Addison). Aiden and Dimitry come from the Aurora Rose family. To quote my sister-in-law, "Aiden is my Irish baby and Dimitry is my Russian baby!" Apparently Aurora Rose will either be their fairy tale baby or their porn star baby. Unfortunately, my money is on the porn star thing when she grows up. Her parents are nukin' futs.
Re: Life updates
The thing about Jayden that makes me laugh is that it's the name given to Data in the TNG episode where he loses his memories on an alien planet in season 7. I wonder if that's the origin of the name? Maybe Data started this whole Aiden, Grayden, Jayden thing!

HA! awesome. if someone told me that's the reason they named their kid jayden, i would instantly give them a pass for using that worn-out name.

Re: Life updates
I knew a kid named Thor, growing up. He was taller and bigger than all the other kids. Nobody gave him shit for his name, at least not to his face.

I too had a Thor friend growing up.
He was also taller & bigger. Ended up disappearing into the military after college.
Re: Life updates
One of my friend named his son Napoleon Ceasar, while another named his kid Kobra.
Re: Life updates

oh my cripes.
the worst one i had ever heard was a girl named (phonetically) pha-mah-lee
why was that her name? because her dumb ass mother thought the doctors named her when they called her "female -last name-" on her nursery tag when she was undecided on a name.
but I think La-ia wins.
