day 2, wading through a pile of viola/guitar overdubs. found out one of our best takes on one of our most challenging songs might be worthless due to bad tape. so brutal.

before we started, we thought we'd get through everything by the end of today. all the drums are finished and there's only two bass parts to redo, but as it stands we're only halfway through the viola parts and about a third into the guitar parts. and that's if our engineer can save the song on the bad tape - might have to do that one all over again.

neither of the other two albums i've been a part of were this stressful ;\

Weekend of volunteering at Columbus Arts Festival.
Free tickets to Red Hot Chili Peppers tonight.
Couple of empty days that I don't know what to do with.
Then volunteering at a community development block party on Saturday.

This summer is getting busy.

I got a great job early this spring and I was recently promoted within the company to run their accounting/HR for the local branch.

I'm newly single after 4 years (well broken up for almost 4 months now).
After we broke up, I heard from people that she cheated on me... and that helped me realize I wasn't missing anything other than what I missed.

Started dating a bit lately. The new lady friend asked me out about two months ago and is like me... super busy with work, not feeling great about relationships, and awesome; so it is a casual friendly thing that confuses me when I think about it, so I try not to and just enjoy it.

That is about all aside from rebuilding a 1983 Ford Bronco Ship of Theseus style (piece by piece until nothing remains but the VIN).

had a candid chat with the engineer just now, went a long way toward allaying my anxieties about this record.

also looking for a new apt.

also based on our success last year, my softball team got crammed into a really tough division and we are now 1-4 ;\

all this plus 2nd job = no time for love dr. jones

Loving Oregon =).

We moved up here in late March... found a great house next to a golf course in Southeast Portland. We've gone on tons of hikes and have pretty much found 500x more shit to do than we ever had available in Texas. Plus, the heat index hit 100° yesterday in DFW while I wore a jacket & a long sleeve shirt to ward off the chill all day yesterday. Lovely.

Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets turned out to be backstage passes.
and my friend's friend saw that we were there and invited us up to her company's box.

So we started off on the tourbus for a little bit, then went to our assigned floor seats (20' or so from the stage), then we went up to the box to watch the first hour, then back down to our seats for the end, and then we gave away our passes because I could barely stay awake any longer :(

All in all, a fun night.

Amen. Sad. They were my favorite band for a while in high school. Their first 3 albums are funk classics.

Does the dude still play in his underwear? You're getting old, 10sun.I was never a chili peppers fan. Not my stuff in high school as I was more into harder metal, and didn't care for them later as there music just annoyed me. I heard they put on a really good show, though.

Give me a shout if you are ever up here near Cedar Point.

Good deal, Vonk.

When you are ready for a longer trip and If you want to take the most scenic trip in the entire universe, then head down Route 1 through California.

Are you going to become a Trailblazer fan now that you're an Oregonian?

I'm sure I'll follow them more closely but I'm still a diehard Mavs fan. Going to have to get the league pass next season, and I'll be that annoying fan sitting courtside all in Mavs blue at the Rose Garden. Tickets here are sooooooo much cheaper than in DFW. Courtside, even for the Wizards, is $2-5k depending on location. You can sit right next to LaMarcus Aldridge for less than a grand, and other courtside seats for $500, easy.

We're totally planing on taking the pacific coast highway tour pretty soon. With her family down in San Diego, it makes for an easy 1-way drive / fly back trip.

current band just dropped our debut (and probably only) album. check the other thread and cram it in your earholes

future band already started practicing. it's a glam-y sexy 80s lounge type of thing, very much a supergroup of lincoln luminaries

two more bands in the works, have not yet started practicing

moving to a new apt next week

edit: hit an inside-the-park grand slam a couple weeks ago, wtf

took a 5 run lead into the bottom of the last inning of our softball championship last week, but the other team built a huge rally on a number of errors and the game (and title) slipped away from us

still working 2 jobs, but will probably quit the PT job in sept or oct
