My condolences Ever. I remember when you had posted years before on how excited you were to get reacquainted with her.

I don't think you'll get any criticism as you're in a very tough spot, but most of us have kids, bills, and issues of our own. No offense, but if you had kids would you invite a stranger from a message board to your home who posted this:

im doing some thing very wrong in my life and i dont seem to care. i don't care who im hurting or myself. i really hate my current life. my suicide thoughts have been arround for years. they come and go in waves. but some days its real bad and it lasts for weeks.

I don't know you, but really it sounds like what you need is to drive to the Air Force or Navy Recruiter and sign a two or three year active reservist contract to get you the hell out of where you are. You can go to X-Ray Tech School, Air Traffic Control, Language School or whatever else tickles your fancy as you seem a smart person. That'll give you a few years rent free to save some cash, free training, move you away from there, and let you refocus your life. I was two years into college, broke, and lost just like you are when I joined the Navy. It was a very good decision for me, and I encourage you to go down and talk to a recruiter and see if it might be something that helps you get the hell out of dodge.
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.

Try a change of venue. It would probably work wonders.

Also, if you haven't, see a doctor. Not a headshinker, just a plain ol' MD. I speak from personal experience on this. Bupropion helped me out tremendously. It didn't remove the lows. What it did was smooth out the troughs and make them more bearable.

Married in a month. Fiancée just found out she's pregnant. Sold business and am currently unemployed kinda sorta lookin for a project. Need a pacemaker. Life is pretty awesome aside from the pacemaker thing.

My plan is to be a stay at home father type working from home if possible. I don't need a job for a bit since my soon to be wife will go back to work after maternity leave. Should I even get a job to work from home or will baby duties keep me fully occupied? Also, any parenting advice would be greatly appreciated. My parents kinda sucked and I would hate for my kid to grow up feeling how I do.

PS - please please please be a boy

it's not that I don't like animated gif's, it's just that I couldn't read life updates or anything else on here without that particular one crashing my computer. then, I forgot about this site as I was starting parenthood all over again. now that we're all sleeping, I can actually read things I enjoy reading. I love being a mommy again. Congrats to all the new parents and parents-to-be! and spouses-to-be!

Probably a response to my brother's suicide and my inability to deal with it too well.

Also, don't let anyone scare you about fatherhood. It's mostly exaggerations.

"OH MY GOD YOURE NEVER GOING TO SLEEP" Bullshit

    "OMG BLAH BLAH BLAH" Bullshit

It's exaggerations 99% of the time.

I agree to a degree. I think it depends what kind of life you had before the child, because they will change things. If you’re the type to stay home and watch a movie, read a book, play a video game in the evening, your life won’t have as much interruption, but you simply will not have as much time for yourself. You’ll have to get up early with them, but my son is now 3.5 and he still goes to sleep around 8pm and he’s usually geared down and chill around 7pm. I want to relax and fire up a game or start an appropriate movie around 7ish he’ll usually sit with me if he’s not with his mother.

I think if you’re the type that was always out with the girl friend or travelling every other weekend, you simply can’t do those things anymore.

The one thing that people warned me about that I think is 100% true is how much you worry about them. The minute they’re born the stress meter doubles, and that’s something that will likely never go away.

Problems at the household atm. My fiancee is really outdoorsy and had to give up a lot of her summer plans because of the pregnancy. She gave up competitive kayaking and is coaching it instead of participating. She also cancelled plans to scale Mt Shasta, play beach volleyball and she can't work out quite as much. It's driving her up a wall. She's really happy that's she's pregnant and wants a child, but she can't stand sitting around and doing nothing.

So we went to dinner at a friends and she asked for a glass of wine. I told her she couldn't have it despite the doctor saying she could have 1 here and there and she lost her shit on me and made a scene saying I don't have to change any plans meanwhile she has to cancel just about everything that she likes doing. Not sure how to proceed here.
