good to hear about your wife getting the organ... i can't imagine the relief...

and yeah Jay... having a 3, 4, and 7 yr old... i get your worry over screwing up your kid...

AND... i grabbed my first kilt... my clan tartan (Kennedy Ancient) and just in time for the Texas Ren Fest... me and my 7 yr old have gone the last 3 years and we camp overnight, spending all day at the festival! real fun.

On Sunday 9/30 6:45 pm my wife entered the operating room in St. Barnabus hospital in Livingston, NJ and came out of surgery on Monday 12:15am with a transplanted Kidney and Pancreas from a 28 yr old woman who was on life support for about a week on account of a motorcycle accident.

God bless her for checking off Organ Donor.

My wife hasn't had insulin since, she's been a Type 1 Diabetic since age 11, and today I finally packed away her peritoneal dialysis machine. Hopefully she'll be home by next Friday so our family can restart our lives.

The last 2.5 years have been hellish for all of us. This summer, my wife will finally be able to swim with her daughter for the first time. Which we're all excited about.

Ford Transit Connect XLT.

It's a weird Euro looking commercial vehicle. It's like a really tall mini station wagon? Hard to describe. You've probably seen them around though. They are fleet vehicles so almost always have business graphics on them.

It's perfect for moving my DJ gear while still functioning as an every day vehicle. My only other options were a gas sucking V8 van or a truck. This one gets good gas mileage and was cheap. It's got zero comforts in it which took a while to get used to after having the Murano but I love it.

So according to the guide we had on my recent trip to Scotland, the clans of old never had clan colors. They died their kilts with native plants and berries and used them as camouflage. The idea that each clan had it's own unique color pattern was a Victorian idea when they romanticized the Highlands. However, obviously, the Scots thought this was a killer idea, as it's been adopted by the clans since. My husband can trace his lineage back to the McLeods of Isle of Skye. We toured the Dunvegan castle, which is still the seat of the chief of the McLeod family and in their family portraits they were mostly wearing the McLeod family kilt. Not to mention all the money the Scottish tourist industry makes from selling everyone their clan's colors.

Anyway! Just a useless tidbit I thought I'd share since I didn't think I'd often get an opportunity to share knowledge about kilts.

PS: Also William Wallace apparently was a monster (height wise), and really did have a lady love. When the local English sheriff killed her he snuck into the guy's house, killed his wife and kids and then skinned the guy alive and made a belt out of it. Then all the Scottish people were like, "Hey, you're giant and crazy. Let's follow you to battle!" The term "Braveheart" actually originally referred to Robert the Bruce, whom most Scottish people think of as the greatest Scot that ever lived, not some betraying pussy as he was portrayed in the movie.

That has to do with the look of the material, rather than it's ago... the "modern" version of a tartan is typically brighter, newer looking, and the "ancient or weather" look more faded

I got married. Found out I'm having twin boys. There was a little scare with one of the boys positioning in the womb but its all good now. I'm pushing my wife to let me name them after the greatest 007 ever. I wanna name them Sean and Connor. Otherwise if she says no I'm naming them Jaython and Plaxico.

Grats Jay. Try not to let the hiccups in the pregnancy kill you with stress and worry. I was a nervous wreck until I watched my daughter being born. Pregnancy complications are pretty common, but rarely dangerous. Grats again... that's exciting. Oh, and also be sure to read "what to expect when you're expecting." :-)

hooray, congrats! my officemate is prego with twin boys. one of them flipped around and is breech so i think there's a pretty good chance she'll have a c-section, but those are so commonplace anymore that she's not worried about it really. anyway, i'm very excited for you. keep us updated!



i'm getting married in one month and nine days. WHEEEEE. my bachelorette party was this weekend and i have never been so hungover in my life. bleh. i actually thought i was going to die yesterday. but saturday night was oh so fun!! yay.

She's due 2nd half of March as early as the 18th. I thought they could tell you exactly when kids are born but apparently twins come full term earlier and they arrive a little more unpredictably.
