I'm liking the way it looks so far. Check out the vid - 20 mins of gameplay.

Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
looks like a good throwback to the SNES shadowrun, which was a great game
gameplay seems a little slow, would be good to streamline it a bit
otherwise i'm sold

Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
I dunno, the gameplay seemed very X-com-ish, which is nothing but a positive in my book. Definitely looks like a game I'll have to pick up when it comes out. I've always been a big fan of the pen & paper RPG version of Shadowrun, though finding other people who actually PLAY it is a non-trivial task.

This game looks awesome. I love the old SNES version so much. Watching this made me want to play it again. I'm totally sold.

Yeah, it does seem a little slow. Of course, some of that is probably due to them explaining gameplay and features as they move through it.

Doesn't hurt that Jake Armitage (SNES protagonist) is a playable character either.

Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
Genesis was better because:
Better combat
better decking
better magic
weapon customization
runner customization
better cyberware
random runs
truer to SR system

This sounds like people arguing about which is better: Pepsi or Coke.

Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
I liked them both, but I give the edge to the Genesis version. It was way more RPGish and the interface sucked so many less dicks.
I think if you took the best of both versions and combined them it would be fucking outstanding.
I'm only 2 minutes into this video and I'm sold all over again.
Edit: Ghostbusters shoutout at 1:40 lol

Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
Decking in SNES version is bad, but it's actually worse in the Genesis version. The art and music in SNES is what I love. Atmosphere is top notch and the story and gameplay is win up until the last act (where it falls off a cliff). So much of the genesis version just doesn't work at all. It feels like half a game. I've tried to play it many times but always have to give up.
Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
Still have my Genesis (3 of them actually, including the Nomad) and copy of Shadowrun. Genesis > SNES
Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
don't be dumb, they're both awesome. how could one system with awesome games be better than another
i wish i had a genesis but i just have my old SNES (x2). i do have that sonic's genesis collection on my 360 tho with about 50 games. bonanza bros 4 lyfe

Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
Back when these systems came out, you picked a side and stuck to it since owning both was not an option for most people.
It was a "joke".

LET GO OF THE PAST
Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
It's funny how those allegiences stick though. Cognitive Dissonance at it's best. I felt bad for my Genesis friends but they all made fun of my bloodless Mortal Kombat.
Looking back, I enjoy a lot of Genesis games. Some top notch stuff, and the games seem more fluid, but SNES titles overwhelm the Genesis in volume. For every great Genesis game, there are 10 SNES games.

Totally agree. For every Shadowrun on Genesis, there was a Zelda, Final Fantasy 4, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, and Earthbound. The number of games I own for my Genesis pales in comparison to my SNES game count

Re: Shadowrun Returns - First Alpha Footage
I agree in some cases. Mortal Kombat was better on Genesis. Aladin was better on Genesis. Sports games were almost always better on Genesis. I can't remember many others. I think the problem was most third party support was going Nintendo's way because they were making more money.
