A background check to own something that can kill very easily seems like a pretty good idea but the fact that people like fienstein would use it to get a foot in the door is what worries me.

it's just fuck damn foolish for any future Billy McShooter to be able to swing by a gun show and completely dodge a background check when he'd be subject to one for buying the exact same gun at fuckin walmart
how does that make any kind of fuckin sense? it doesn't, and over 90% of the country was in favor of universal checks - yet only 54% of our "elected" "representatives" voted for them (most of the rest were scared of primary challenges)
and ashly, i will admit that sometimes it gives me the heebie-jeebies how much ammo the govt buys, but a) that's the nature of grants - if you don't spend the money, you don't get the money next time the chuckwagon comes around. and b) the reason the ammo cases at walmart are empty is that the NRA has been shitting out scare tactics ever since 1/20/09 about how OMG OBAMA GON' TAKE YER GUNS, TIME TO STOCK UP and that warning siren only gets louder every time some shit like aurora or newtown goes down. look at the stats, more guns have been sold in the last 5 years than the last 20
and fuck. nobody is after your fuckin guns, we just want to make sure you're not a fuckin nutcase before we let you have one
Forbes wrote:It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.
