I think if the tables were 100% reversed, there wouldn't even be a trial right now because if TM had shot GZ in self defense, there wouldn't have been the public outcry from the black community and TM would have walked based on original evidence based on the laws in place, just like GZ did and all this would be forgotten by now.

In the end, as Drem says, the prosecution was just overzealous with the murder charge and botched the whole thing, much like the Casey Anthony trial a couple years back, who also walked afterwards.

You can't compare this to the Casey Anthony case at all. That was a slam dunk case the prosecution should have easily won. This one never should have went to trial based on their stupid 'Stand your Ground' law.

I think the problem is this was over sensationalized by the media, which is why it was brought to trial. It has nothing to do with the 'black' community or racism, but simple pressure from people in power and via news organizations.

Don't you have any empathy for the 17 year old who was killed? He was a stupid kid, but did he deserve to die for freaking out over a guy stalking him in a high crime neighborhood at night? I think he should have gotten in trouble for assault and battery, but he was killed. It's disturbing you seem to justify taking his life for getting into a fight with a guy 'creeping' him out.

Beating a guy up that was creeping him out his a best case scenario. We don't know what Zimmerman said or did to him. He very well could have thought his life was in danger. Why would someone jump someone else with eye witnesses around and smash his face into the pavement simply because someone was walking behind him. Doesn't hold water to me. I think now that most of this has come to light, it's not as inflammatory as original believed, but I think even the most hardheaded can see how Zimmerman was completely reckless in his behaviour, which ultimately ended someones life.

There was a guy here in Oregon that fired a warning shot (he was ex-military) at a burglar attempting to enter his house, and the police charged him with reckless use of a weapon and took his ar-15. Shoot to kill, indeed. Pretty sad
