An associate of the armed Oregon militia occupying a wildlife refuge was shot dead on Tuesday after a shootout with federal agents that resulted in the arrest of the group’s leader Ammon Bundy and a group of protesters.

#TarpMan is dead, but based on earlier interviews it sounds like that's what he wanted anyway. both bundy brothers are in custody, as are o'shaughnessy, ritzheimer, some asshole conservative radio shock-jock from ohio, and a handful of others. they are all facing federal felonies. it's unclear whether there are still seditionists at the refuge facility, but the entire "leadership" is now in lockup so i'm sure the rest will fold quickly

i realize the official response was to use a light touch in order to a) prevent further damage to the refuge and its facilities, b) minimize bodily harm to both agents and seditionists, and most importantly c) to avoid playing into the misdirected narrative of a tyrannical government that "tramples" the "liberty" of "true patriots" and thus garner further sympathy and support from like-minded crapcastles... but to hell with all that. blockade road access, cut the power, jam the cell towers, flush 'em out like rats.

I must admit, I am looking forward to what Twinkie-defense level retardation they use to try and proclaim their innocence when this actually goes to trial. Given, you know, all the media footage of them specifically saying they'd resist getting removed or arrested with violence against federal authorities or law enforcement. Then proved it when the guy DID resist violently, while getting killed for being just that stupid. Apparently, it was a SWAT team operation that arrested them, and typical SWAT felony stops/arrests like this, they'll have 20-30 weapons trained on the arrestees, to dissuade any violence because you have no chance. That guy fired at the police anyway. So, he was either mind-bogglingly stupid (given the group he was in, I can buy this), or was committing suicide.

David Fry, the final occupier of the so-called Oregon militia, turned himself over to authorities on Thursday, ending a long standoff and negotiation that was broadcast live on YouTube.

It marked the official end of the militia's occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, which began nearly six weeks ago.

Initially during the live stream -- posted by activist broadcaster Gavin Seim -- Fry announced plans to kill himself if FBI agents advanced on his position.

But he later promised to walk out after demanding that agents scream "Hallelujah."

He was by turns belligerent and incoherent during the standoff, ranting about President Barack Obama, Trayvon Martin and UFOs.

"I’m tired, everybody," he said. "I’ll die before I leave here. I’ll kill myself before you guys fuckin’ take me. If you guys throw a gas can in here, I’ll do it, too."

Fry, 27, was detained following his surrender.
