A Scammer named Dueling

Recently I got a tell, from a character named Dueling, offering an MQ for the Shattered Emerald of Corruption. He claimed he was leaving EQ and wanted to unload it, After a bit of negotiation we decided on a price of 8k (mainly because that's all I had). I gave him half at the bank and we set off to do the hand in. Well he split and the camped about 15 minutes later. His guild is Ancient Heroes. I Sent tells to the 3 other people in his guild that were on a the time. All of them claimed to not know of him and said that there was nothing they could do. Has anyone ever heard of a lvl 58 Outrider named Dueling, or the guild "Ancient Heroes?" I don't want to unjustly flame anyones guild but it almost seemed like this was common practice with that guild and none of them cared.

I was grouped with someone that was guildmates of the person that got ripped off and she told me about how this person got ripped off from some money by a person named dueling. I saw later that day dueling in trade channel trying to sell the same mq that I saw him trying to sell a while before this ever happened. I said in trade channel do not buy from dueling he just ripped someone off with the same item for a good bit of pp. What was funny is that about 5 other people started saying the same thing about hearing bad things about dueling. He then replied with the person he just did an mq with didnt have the right faction and then proceeded to call everyone fuckers and that we were assholes.

It seems to me that if what happened is true and if dueling has ripped others off then something needs to be done about him.

OK.. .so let's say that Gargamellow takes a break from her literary career to handle this. She logs in, confronts him, he starts screaming "ASSHAT!!! YOU STUPID ASSHAT BITCH CUNT!!!11!" and she /guildremove's him.

The final result is this:

1) You still don't have your money back.
2) Dueling still is a scammer.
3) Dueling gets kicked out of a piece of shit guild... oh noz!
4) Gargamellow hears from yet another person that she is stupid.

In otherwords, you are faced with a totally unsatisfying result. Frankly, if you want to try to get any real resolution to this, next time have your /log's turned on, use /report often during the transaction, and /petition if it goes south. After the fact, with no proof, you have no real avenue to pursue this.

99% of the shit in EQ could be avoided if people just acted with half a brain, like for instance, not paying for half of something when you can't even see it

Did I miss something? Where did he say that he did or did not see the item in the trade window? He definitely paid half before the MQ, but I don't see anything about his being shown the item or not before hand.

Let's reverse the situation. What if he was a seller of MQs who was reporting an incident? "I did a MQ for a SEoC and the dude never paid me!" Might these same guys say "You should have had him pay you something upfront!"

If he didn't even ask to see the SEoC before handing over his platinum, then it's his fault. If he did see it, then I can't point any fingers.

Menlaan speaks the truth. Anytime anyone gets scammed, I think of them as too trusting, but I know in my own MQ for the monk epic, I paid 1/2 up front. That is common practice. Luckily I didn't get scammed.

It's a no drop item... he could have easily linked one to him that didn't really belong to him. (Which he probably did since I saw his auctions myself)

Well, I still don't have my plat back, but apparently that guy was booted from his guild as a result of many people complaining that he had pulled that same scam multiple times that day. And while <Ancient Heroes> don't seem to be cleanest guild, They do seem to be decent people... Hardly the scum of The Nameless. Every one comes across a prick like Dueling at some point or another.
While I lost 4k and didn't get the SGoC MQ I guess I learned my lesson. :?
so... Any one up for a PoH raid :wink:

Back inthe day, when I was a guide, if we got a petition about MQ's gone wrong, the GM would have us make up any excuse not to handle it. They don't support multiquesting, in their eyes it was another form of cheating. Buyer Beware.

Anyway, sorry you couldn't get your money or your item, and I told you Garg was cool.

Gildothal your not the only one I know of at least one other person who was scammed by this guy. The drop is a lot more common in Hate now, good luck. As far as Ancient Hero's, Gargamellow's action doesn't surprise me. I've grouped with both her Virra (husband/boyfriend not sure) and they are stand up folks in my expierence.
