256 RAM that's not video RAM I take it?

I would boost that first.

Your ram is really horrible..but yes, a good video card makes a huge difference. The computer I used to use was about on par with yours, but had 512 ram with a GeForce 2. The machine I use now is about the same as my old one, but with a much better video card and the difference is amazing.

Aquamark 3d benchmark is a fun way to test your comp =b You can do that and compare scores that way if you wanna be more accurate =)

Very cool idea! Thank you! I'll try that when I get home.

By the way, the 256 megs of ram is the reg ram. The video card I presently have is an ATI 128. Not sure how many megs of video ram it is, but I know it isnt 128 =)

So far not so good. Last I saw there was a castle in some purple surrounding and it said 0.1 FPS and I was on frame 650

=\

Anyone know how to skip the patching process with normal EQ? (Not using EQW)

There is a command line for it, I think just run eqgame.exe -nopatch or something.

700 mhz with 512 Ram and a 128 AGP (the ATI 128 is PCI, yes?) would make a huge difference.

If AGP is not an option, then we know where your slowness lies.

AGP is just that good.

Including patch, 40 seconds or so. Into PoK

Nexus or similar would be about 10-15 less.

AMD 3200+
FX5900 Ultra 256MB
EQ has its own 10k RPM 10GB HD
1GB PC4400 DDR

The drive cuts loading/zoning times in half damn near.

Desktop to in game....53 seconds.

What are ya runnin Finawin? Your either lyin or sitting on some crazy ass dual Opteron 850 system with 16GB PC4400 DDR and your choice of Radeon or NVidia VC's, my preference is the 6800 from nvidia atm. I have access to a Opteron 848 system with 8GB mem, and it loaded in at 47 seconds.....no clue what the vid card was but only the last part of loading involves the vid card as it renders the starting location before it swaps outa cache onto screen. And considering it was nexus facing a corner that wasn't slowing me down much. Honestly once you get below 60 seconds loading, it takes a LOT to bring it down from there, your scraping at the bottom of min time for server to client info to be swapped etc...So impress me with some crazy shit or post your real time bro.
