Wish

Post by Tacks »

I originally wrote this game off as a piece of shit after playing the alpha. But this makes me take a second look:

Dear friends of Wish,

We would like to inform you that Wish Beta 2.0 will start on December
1, 2004, and not, as originally planned, in fall 2004. The beta test
will last until December 31, 2004. We apologize for the delay.

The reason for the delay is that we want Beta 2.0 to be a truly
mind-blowing experience. We are therefore reworking many parts of our
game client, server, and content, based on the feedback that we
received from our E3 version and from community message boards. These
changes will take longer to finish than anticipated, but we are sure
they will be worth the wait!

We are also moving the release date of Wish from the first to the
second quarter of 2005. Too many games have suffered from a premature
release, and we do not want to be one of them.

Best regards,
Your Wish team

It never hurts to check something out..

The big problem Wish had wasn't with the design doc, but it was in the mediocre coding that seemed to be done.

can't wait for beta to start now, to be honest.

What's the scoop on this game? What's going to set it apart from WoW and EQ2?

no servers and no zones, supposedly

All one huge seemless world that can support 100,000 people.

Don't ask me how...but that's their hype.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

and the game world is controlled by GMs that constantly move the storyline forward. it's not a stagnant "do quests get equipment" world.

But stories don't sell, because the majority of MMO gamers are the kewld00d I r l337 crowd.
Also, the alpha of Wish I played in was just BORING. They need a better sell.

Also, point and click sucks ass.. I hope they changed from it to wasd movement.

well duh alpha wasn't impressive. it's like the first stage of the playable game. of course it isn't going to be tuned and polished. so much is going to change when beta comes out.

you wait and see

Yeah it will change, but enough to make it not suck? I still have my doubts but I hope they prove me wrong.
