Ok, we have plenty of old NT personalities here now but

isn't shadowspear that bard who was on that trak raid and when the ss bp dropped whoever he was with wouldn't award it to him but instead called on someone else they knew to run down to the corpse and loot it so shadowspear looted the bp and logged and got into huge trouble for it eventhough he had every right to have that bp as he was the only bard on that raid? i never knew him but this is the story i was told
Wow, commas or periods plz.
that story is STILL floating around after all this time. I remember when it first unfolded on the old NT waaaayyyyy back when. It was good then, and it's still good now.
There were two BP incidents... one with SS and the other with Sanc when they were trying to sell a trak Druid BP when they had Druids in the guild who could have used it... if I remember right.
makes me miss the old EQ.

Ugh, that was not a good deal. I was part of the Druid BP fiasco..The leadership was right and wrong about it...
Thank God when we started Euphoria we used DKP, which solved so many of the issues of 'awarding' loot <even though it started many others>.
The funny thing is compared to other guilds, Sanct had very few issues.. The problem was the few things s it did have were hugely over publicized, since a certain other Guild was competing in more ways than just ingame.
That's the nice thing about PVP, although it's a shame nobody's done a really killer PVP implementation since UO.. With PVP, If you want real competition, instead of Epeen waving on message boards, you can get it..

Lyion, can you please award that BP now to the Druid who deserved it that night.
I just want to hear you say it.

How did that one go again... that thread was also gold...

Now that I think about it... All these games like WoW which try to remove a lot of the negative social interaction from the game might be making a mistake...
Drama is probably the number one most entertaining reason to continue to play EQ, especially during the peak LoS, Sanc, TW days.

You are correct sir, that is one of the main reasons I lose interest in so many of the new mmos, there is just no way for there to be any super-drama like in EQ. That is also one of the reasons why I am playing again.

Well, it all started with Klandicar. Sanc was killing kland, when suddenly Cargalia showed up and proceeded to wipe the floor with the lot of them. This spawned the thread where Ixnay turned into a raving frothing psychotic, and it turned into one of the best drama threads EVER. Sanc accused LOS of training, we denied it. They claimed it was Manalope, but given that he was 10 feet in front of me in the tunnel from SG, I could call complete BS on that. It was shown that Cargalia does indeed wander to where Sanc was fighting, so nothing could be proved either way. (Came out much much much, like years, later that it WAS someone in LOS who'd trained Carg, but I, and no one I spoke with in LOS had any clue at the time)
Then, in "retribution" or something, Sanc hatches a Cunning Plan. LOS is in dwarf town, doing Dain for like the 18th time. BTW, Fuck the Dain, I hated that pull. Part of it was cause Medicd was our only mage for a while, and his IQ level was lower than that of the average amoeba. Real example of pull team conversation on a LOS dain pull: Tigole says, "Medicd, need summon please." <10 seconds go by> Tigole says, "MEDICD, SUMMON PLEASE." <10 seconds go by, Tig's almost dead> Tigole says, "MEDICD SUMMON ME NOW" <Tigole dies> <20-30 seconds pass> Medicd says, "Summoning Adorean"....
Anyway, there we are doing Dain for the upteenth time. Sanc decides it would be amusing to start the Ring 10 war with no intent on winning, knowing that failing the war causes everything in dwarf town to despawn. So, there we are, fighting Dain, he's at like half or something, and whammo, he (and everything else) vanishes, and we learn what happened. Now, given that it was Dain #17 or something, it wasn't like we lost out on anything, so the pretty universal response was, "Yeesh, what a pack of petty raving idiots." That stunt was pretty much the death knell for Sanc too, as many of their best people quit in disgust over being associated with a stunt like that. More NT drama ensued, though not as amusing as after Cargalia.

hahahaha yah that was the story... While rather insignificant in the big scheme of things, that thread associated with the Dain being blown was golden... I swear in 3 hours that thread mushroomed to like 15 plus pages of shit.
Good fun for all..
Now.... Who pulled Cargalia on Sanctuary? Inquring mind s need to know.

LOS members did have a habit of showing up at Sanct raids and provoking, and then rushing to NT to taunt and be as offensive as possible. Its not like they didn't TRY to cause mischief, even if it only was encouraged in the form of nastiness here, and wasn't proveable in game.
The fun of the old days. I wasn't around for the Kland/Cargalia or 10th war fiasco, as we had founded Euph and I escaped before that.
The social issues of non instanced high end combat in an MMO are lame. Its one of many reasons I prefer PVP, if only a game would capture early UOism again. I'm pretty sure early LOS leaders didn't care for it. Sanctuary leaders didn't like it, and I know I didn't like it.
Sure, it was great for silliness on message boards, but it also pushed away a lot of people to other games. I find so many of the people who enjoyed the silliness weren't involved in the high end game at that time, and were n00bs.
EQ had a near monopoly. The funnel at the endgame when DAOC came out is why it got a huge chunk of the Everquest community
