Selling your EQ character is classy and fulfilling on an emotional level.

We should all aspire to create something from our heart and soul, nurture it to full bloom, and sell it for a profit. Then we all become artists.

No but it is practical. Every $ counts when you are building a new house, getting married, or have bills to pay. I still don't get anti-ebay people. If
you had a choice of making 2k and going on vacation somewhere nice vs keeping some char lingering around in a game that you no longer intend to play why the heck wouldn't you sell it? Does anyone on this board really still believe that ebaying a char is wrong?

I believe EBay is wrong, and let me tell you why. I want a level 65 chanter with a buttload of AA's that I don't know how to play because I didnt learn her. Then I want to sit in PoK all day selling Fully ext KEI for plat. But I dont want to pay $1,000 for it. I want it for free.

In all seriousness, the only thing I dont like about EBAY is that so many times the original owner comes back and takes teh account. Then you are out that $1,000

I said selling is practical and makes sense if you plan on not playing the character (or donating to a friend/guild that might get some use out of it)

Spending real money and buying a char is about as stupid as keeping a char you don't ever intend to play.

So in order to buy you have to be stupid. If you sell your'e being practical. Therefore.. when a practical person wants to sell his stuff, he has to intentionally seek out a stupid person to buy it. Associating with stupid people in it's nature is impractical. Well, I would consider it impractical anyway. Interesting paradox there.

When I played I was against e-bayers because 9 times out of 10 they didn't know how to play. But when you quit it puts a new perspective on things. It took me 6 months with an innactive account before i decided to "be practical" about it. Mainly cause rent was due, and I didn't play anymore, so i didn't give a shit if someone wants to suck at playing a lvl 65 EQ bot. As long as they payed me for it.

After I sold neb I did the math at the how much i earned per hour played... IT came out to just over $.06/hr USD.... How depressing is that?

Oh well the $600 bought me new tires and a timing belt ><

exactly, why would i want to sell something for like a grand USD that took me over 4 years of my life to make when i could just go out and work for a month or less and make a grand USD

to me the knowledge that some jackass isn't running around as metra, and keeping the rights to be the only one to ever use him is worth a lot more than $1000 US or so, but some people put a higher value on money than me i guess.

You can't equate working a month to get the 1k -vs- getting the money instantly selling pixels. You are right .. it's all about what value you place on money -vs- the sentimental value people still seem to what to cling too once they retire. I think when people first retire they still have this attachement and identify a part of themselves with the character they played so it is hard for them to let go. Just let goooooooooo people.

Personally I just donated my character to guild members. I figured if I ever felt the need to log on again I could. However, if no one was playing my cleric then she would be listed on player auctions tomorrow. I am a capatalist.. np.

Why do you keep an autographed baseball versus running to a sports shop and selling it? It adds to the bill at the end of the month.

One object is tangable and the other is not, but this has no weight in a discussion because most people see their EQ toons as virtual property, hence the auctioning.

    On another note:

I'll sell or won't sell my character when I quit and have no interest in justifying it to anyone but myself.
Vonk PM me so we can fix my damned sig again!

I am not being a dick, I am being serious, unless your magelo is grossly outdated. You have no Time flag, 35AA, low hps and mana, and low FT (1). Time equipped clerics can only bring in a few hundred these days, and the best of the best equipped get in upper hundreds. Yeah, $10 was me being smartass, but I wouldn't bet you would get much over $100.

Finawin - I do not owe you $5, if you want to argue see logic listen below:

    1) How many tanks of gas have I used toting you around? Far more than $5

    2) I have bought you food so many times its not even funny

    3) My constant worrying about your moral status and what std you might get negate any money owed..yeah you know what I'm talking about

    4) If you really want the $5 you can have it, but I am currently around $3,000 in debt, so either convince Aryylas to start paying boyfriend allowance or go without :)

Ok so I'm bored, if you really need the $5 and I have cash on me I will give it to ya, just wait until after my insurance check comes in and my bills are paid....
