I never once asked you to tote me anywhere, that was solely Aryylas, I prefer to walk anyways. Hes just the most lazy person on the planet and refuses to walk anywhere.

Why would a time-flagged character really matter when talking about ebay value?

Aren't the guys who buy accounts in guilds like <Anarchy Reborn> (or guildless) and just 2-boxing slime boots camp or something? What I'm saying is...what ebayed people with time-flag are actually being played regularly IN PoTime? Last I noticed it's kinda hard for ebayed people to get into guilds like ours and LoS/PoN.

Maybe I'm missing something here...

PoN bought at least 2 Euphoria ebayed characters. KE has several. I know of at least 2 people currently in Euphoria who are ebayed within the last 6 months and remained in guild and no one was the wiser.

I know of many time and Elemental flagged guilds with plenty of Ebay characters and a few of those guilds would recruit about anyone with lvl 65 and 50 aa's about a year ago.

I got a tell from the same guild's recruiter playing 2 different of my characters and one was Eleril, the guild leader of FoF. I was like "dude, I am a guild leader - WTF are you thinking, anyone can get into your guild unless they are a complete moron - my guild may be lower in content but has much higher recruiting standards thanks." After I logged off, all I could think about was my comment to him about complete morons not getting into his guild, how he was "a complete moron" and was made into a recruiting officer...

BTW, this guy was either ebay or so PL'd he didn't have a clue about the game. This guild ended up demoting him at least so they could get to time faster so someone was using their heads at least.

EBAY?

Post by Gargamellow »

FIRST OFF...
I would never sell my characters simply because I spent my heart and soul on this game for over four years. When I log on my wizard I am in a different world where the whores might be skanky, but I don't have to smell their crotch while I tolerate their witless rambling over a lukewarm frosty in the local tavern. I don't have to listen to the landlord bitch that my kids broke the lazy susan again and I don't have to scrub shit off the toilets of Felwithe. I log onto my account and there are my friends. For years I have confided in these people my deepest secrets and fears and loves and hates etc...there is no way in hell I am going to EBAY so some assfuck can come out of nowhere and pretend they are me. "Ya this is the original Sandi...wanna cyber?" Not a fucking chance. I choose not to sell my soul. I don't want to be one of the many people who come back three months later going," I sold my account cause I thought I was sick of playing." TAKE A BREAK people...stop jumping to conclusions for fucksake.
HOWEVER...
I don't give a fuck who EBAYS. I have friends who buy accounts and I know people who have sold accounts and for damn good reasons too. To each his own I suppose.
LASTLY...
If someone was in a high end guild and don't have the respect to sell your character to someone who WTB it within their guild, then they should have never been guilded and most likely won't be again. Sadly you can't see how loyal someone is until they are tested by something such as this. LoS should EBAY to LoS...and likewise for Euph and KE. Those guilds busted ass to make eachother's accounts strong. Keeping it in the family is only right. (Provided of course that someone WANTS it...I mean...if yer planning to EBAY a ranger, well...)

Anyway, guys...my class was cancelled and I felt like stating my mind here because everyone always bitches about EBAY and since I am queen bitch of Nameless, it was my duty to run my mouth under this topic.

We should all aspire to create something from our heart and soul, nurture it to full bloom, and sell it for a profit. Then we all become artists.

I think this explains why I spied with my little eye a long-retired iksar monk running around this weekend.

I thought about ebaying my account when I retire but I’m positive I’ll only get like 3 bucks for it. So rather than take that crippling blow to my virtual ego, I’ll just pretend that the idea of ebaying offends me np~

Ebaying is ok. I think that your guild, however, should get first choice in taking the account off your hands for free or at least dirt cheap considering they geared you up and made you worth what you are worth.

Everyone pitched in their worth for the gear, I dont fully agree with that...

Everyone works for eachother, (sometimes for themselves but inadvertantly others as well).

Yeah, plus you can hijack your character and cause drama by logging on and talking shit in /guild then camping.

Exactly. (Did I actually agree with Taxx? ) I think you will find that the people against ebaying are still very much engrossed or addicted to the game and have little interest in reality if not all the time at least when they are playing for hours and hours at a time. Ever experience playing and somone tries to talk to you in the real world at the same time and you don't even here them when they are standing next to you?
At least that was my case. Priorities were totally different. I still thought in terms of the character as defing the person who I was at the time and an escape from reality instead of focusing on cleaning the dirty toilet, paying the bills, getting fresh air, working out, eathing healthy......living, etc. Ignorance is bliss!! Well maybe not so much.

Once I stopped playing all together I started to care less and less as time went on about where my replacement was putting AA points, what keys I had, and who was sending him cyber messages thinking that it was me. The reputation of my character or who played LS didn't matter anymore. What mattered was that I started shaping the real world to better meet my needs instead of hiding in some game.

Even only until very recently did I actually stop caring about the EQ world , what were the latest and greatest changes, and checking the officers section of The First Seal boards. This is 2 yrs after I quit!! Now about the only thing I care about related to EQ are the people I stayed in touch with via the boards or outside the game that use to play. People who I can talk about other common interests and real life in general.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this happens to everyone that plays. Some people are fine paying and finding a balance with the real world. I just think that anyone who associates there own personality with the character might want to think twice about where that character ends and where the real person begins. If you did, you might not care so much what happens to the character once you quit after you have had some time to divorce yourself from the game and live in the real world.

You are going to have to give a better response then that if you disagree morg! Come on.. have at it!!!!!! =) I was fully expecting to get blasted for that post.

On a side note, I do understand that people also get sentimental over there characters after playing them for so long. But if your behind on rent or need the cash for something important I just think it makes sense to ebay and get over being sentimental.

However, I do think there is a huge percentage of players that get pretty lost in the EQ world that have a hard time distiguishing there characters from themselves. Is there anyone that would argue this? I've experienced it first hand and I've seen it ingame over and over again. These same people would never considering ebaying there characters.

i've referred to myself as Emong before and then pretended my friends just can't hear when they all said "what the fuck?"

Unless I really need the money I would definately offer Emong for free to a guildmate or close friend before i tried to sell him. (Like anyone would buy my sux account anyways)

I disagree
a) my characters have such absolute shit for gear that I'd be lucky to afford a bottle of coke after the transaction

b)nobody else will ever play those characters; my time, my money, and that is the way it will end in EQ.

I haven't played EQ since September. Does it matter to me that those characters are still there? Nope, let them sit there and gather dust, I've moved on to better things
