i played this game about 2 years ago (LoY was the latest expansion so maybe it was less than a year ago) and everything ran perfectly fine, and i zoned all in good time. i started playing the game again about 2 months ago...im using the same computer, same video card etc...but i lag like all hell in pok and it takes me forever to zone. today it took me like 2 hours to get from the soulbinder to the magician section of myrist in pok. wtf? anybody have any ideas?

As far as what has changed, most likely the changes due to Direct X9. First thing to check is if you video card has the latest drivers and is DX9 compliant.
