Tornadoes normally occur when there is no friction to slow the turning motion of the clouds. Friction is things such as mountains and hills and trees and tall buildings. So if you live on the side of a large city that is always hit last by a storm(due to natural wind systems that blow across the earth) then there is a good chance you won't ever have a tornado in your immediate area. I am not sure, but I think Cali has much more friction than FA, which seems to me just a sand bar...however I have never been to either. But that would be my explanation.

P.S. I took a meteorology class as one of my sciences!!! It was kinda boring at first but now I know everything I ever wanted/needed to know and I am much less scared of things such as tornados and storms, etc.

Another interesting fact...floods kill more people than any other weather element.
