Half life 2....again

Post by Tacks »

A short post to the Half-Life 2 Fallout Forums by Valve's Gabe Newell indicates a release candidate for Valve's upcoming shooter sequel was submitted to Vivendi Universal Games for approval yesterday.

It doesn't really matter it's only an RC. Technically it could take several RC's before they finally get one they can call gold. It just depends on the bugs that are found and how significant those bugs are considered to be. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Besides, even after it goes gold it's still going to take a few weeks before it's pressed and can be shipped to stores.

Probably but I already have a license for my copy and most of it's already on my hard drive. I just have to wait for it to be released and unlocked.

Sure it's been working great so far. I don't expect there will be much of an issue with releasing software via steam. I get great transfer rates via steam.

haha they're starting to make noise about DNF again. That game is never coming out, I don't know why 3dRealms is refusing to admit it and just give up on it. It's never going to happen hehe.

There's new possibilities of complications on the way.

VUGames Holding On To Half-Life 2?

GameSpot has a new story up about the legal battle between Valve and Vivendi Universal (see previous story), as they've found out that Vivendi Universal Games can hold on to Half-Life 2 for six months after receiving a gold candidate from Valve. In the court filing, VUGames' senior vice president and deputy general counsel Eric Roeder says that Valve "made a number of public statements without our consent or concurrence that the product will be published and released to the general public in September of this year". The story also mentions that until Vivendi ships the game to retail, Valve is unable to release the game through Steam as it has to be made available at the same time as the retail release.

Yeah yeah, it's looking like november for the release. Would be cool if they gave it to the folks with Vouchers first though. ;)
