Need some input on a new system

Postby meanmonc » Fri Oct 01, 2004 8:52 am

Ok, I am looking to build a new system roughly after the first of the year.
:dunno: DEPENDING ON MONEY at that moment.

I would like some input and links to some places on what I really need. I will hopefully have about 600 to 700 bucks to build it. I will reuse my HD and CD burner so thats not needed. I will need casing, fans, motherboard, ram, AWESOME graphic card, and the rest of the bells and whistles. I know people out there got some input so bring it on.

700 bucks doesnt seem enough cash for a large upgrade. For my recent upgrades I've been using newegg.com. They aren't the cheapest but are pretty dependable.

If you're keeping your case, I'd recommend looking for a 939 Pin 1600 FSB Motherboard, a Gig of RAM, and an AMD 3500.

I'd save your pennies and get a GT 6800 256 Video Card. That'll run around 350. If you want to skimp a bit you can get a PCI-X 6600 for around 200.

Taxx swears by http://www.cyberpowersystems.com, so you might want to give them a try if you are looking for a barebones setup.

Good luck

I bought a custom made system from them 2 christmas's ago and I have no complaints whatsoever. The thing benchmarks WAY above what it should. For 500 bucks you can get a running system that will play most of the newest games smoothly.
