WOW Endgame grouping rant

Post by Lyion »

Someone high level please refute this, Arlos, Jangos, or someone 60.

Ok, from what I've seen an endgame (55-60) group for WOW needs:

1. Warrior
2. Priest
3. Mage (Or Warlock now)

and 2 lucky bastards.

Why in the fuck did Blizzard do this?

Paladins cannot taunt. They are also a low DPS class. They cannot heal well enough to be primary healers. What the fuck is their role in a 55-60 instance?

Druids cannot ress, and can't tank or heal well enough to supplant a healer at these levels.

The Warlock changes were great in allowing groups at higher levels to not need mages, but that still locks in priests and warriors at high levels.

I'm really not happy with the group setup at the endgame. They need to diversify classes so that you don't need a priest and warrior to do instances 55+.

Do you think a Shaman can replace a healer at 55+ instances for a single group?

Can any Horde class replace a warrior?

I wish they'd set things up so you don't need those two classes for high end instances.

Shaman might be able to pull it off, but its like having a bard tank in EQ. They have the armor, hp, etc, but just not the taunt.

we dont have a warrior or priest in our guild Lyion and we have been surviving on shaman/rogue tank and druid healers.

You also are not doing 55+ instances now. Lower level dungeons can be done by 5 of just about any class.

My Paladin is a viable tank at 40, barely. At higher levels instances require a priest and warrior.

So you want a paladin to be AS good as a tank as a warrior with the same AC/HP/Taunt AND healing buffing rezzing?

Makes sense I guess.

You're barely a viable tank at 40? I've been the main tank in Uldaman before (and will be again tonight). BRD and BRS don't REQUIRE a warrior and priest, many people have done it without...(talk to some of the old LoS guys on the Horde side)

Again I'm talking 55-60, and my point is FROM talking to friends who are 60.

At lower levels 5 of anything can make it through instances. I can duo and level ridiculously fast with a low DPS Paladin at 40. I however cannot hold aggro as a Paladin.

At 60 the instances are not as forgiving. I'd like to hear from some of the LoS guys to see if they completely disagree with this, or do endgame instances require a Priest/Warrior combo to succeed.
