It really didn't sound complimentary, Garg. I know I would be offended by a statement like that.

Think about what you are implying by asking if she was mail order. First you are implying he couldn't meet anyone in the normal fashion. Second by then saying she is stunning you are implying that he couldn't get anyone that beautiful in the normal fashion.

When I was about 8, we were at my aunts house, and they were getting ready to go out and she was putting on makeup. When she was done, I told her, "Aunt Frances, you look pretty, like one of those proistitutes." She started to cry, even though I meant it as a compliment, it obviously was not one. I expected to get my ass beat when my Dad heard about it. Suprisingly, he didn't but he sat me down and told me that I should think about what I say before I say it, because even if you dont try to, you can come off as an asshole.

Thought it fit here, and I also begrudginly agree with Ugz and Taxx, that was a rude thing to say.
