Incredible, this sounds VERY promising. Boats, housing, dungeons, sweet sounding crafting system. Please don't let this one turn out like Horizons.

Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
Wow....you can collect things off the ground in Barbie Wardrobe Cut N' Paste? I won't ask how you know this.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that, honestly. I liked DAoC and EQ and you couldn't do that in either of those games.
I liked the idea that Horizons had about rebuilding the world and making a difference to the world, but they flubbed implementation. I like the style system that DAoC has for fighting. I like the tons of content of EQ. I like the quest system of WoW.
So, I thought all the 'goodies' of Vanguard was exciting. Pack mules, housing, boats, lots of exploration, a fighting system more than target and click attack. What's not to like?

I thought I heard tentatively next spring....but I may be thinking of a different game.

That crafting system sounds like it might be interesting on paper, but absolute utter hell in reality. To make the "good stuff" you effectively need guild-level raids on places? Yeah, most people in EQ can't make successful 6 person groups without dying repeatedly to stupid shit or creating mad drama due to looting rights. How often do people of almost any class (well, not clerics) sit around LFG for even single group stuff? And you expect to be able to collect 20+ random other idiots at times that fit your schedule, and have regular organized raids and have fun with it? What's the sky like in your world?
Maybe it'll be fun, I don't know. I do know that I am not entirely sold by the original Verant people either. Remember these were the people who were utterly inflexible when it came to changing anything in the game, regardless of how much it was needed, because it didn't fit with "the vision". See: http://www.gucomics.com/archives/view.p ... e=20041008. (the rolled up paper thing is "The Vision")

I know it's the Verant people. Since SoE has pretty much followed the same line as Verant started I'm interested to see how much was SoE bs and how much Verant.
I must have missed the part about needing a raid force to craft. I did see where a group would definitely help tho.

Ok. Go ahead and gather some resources, but group together with some other crafters! Now you can gather higher tier resources as well as do it much more efficiently than if you were doing it alone. Yes, there are huge bonuses for groups of crafters working together! Not only that, but as you go out to get more resources (which will be more of an event than repetitive grind) you will have to find specific resources and they get harder to find as you get up to better items. They may be guarded by mobs, which means you may have to get those guys who keep asking you to make their weapon better or finish that house you promised them to come over and help kill the mobs in your way so your craft team can swoop in to get that giant tree down, chopped up and loaded onto the pack mule.
Note: "Groups of Crafters". Not "A Group of Crafters"
This rather strongly indicates multiple groups working together, which needs to be coordinated with roups of combat characters to get to them. Sounds like "crafting raids" to me. By the end of POP you still had 25-30 sized pickup raids of > L60s failing on BOT boss raids, most of which took 1-2 groups, tops, of actual competant people. You expect to be able to have pickup CRAFTING raids, where the fighters might not actually get loot with the usual packs of raving retards you find in games? Sure, occasionally maybe, and in a good guild, sure, but still sounds like a really really iffy game mechanic.

True, true. It does show a little independent thinking tho which does bode well.
It's not even in beta yet, who knows what'll be dropped, changed, added by release.
