XBOX or PS2?
Well, I am going to snag up a console unit for the ole' Mitsubishi wide screen and surround sound. Kinda stuck on which one to pick up. I'll be playing single player RPG's, Sports, and Adventure type games. I haven't played a PS2 since the release time of the XBOX and I remember the graphics being pretty grainy. On the flipside, with the XBOX you miss out on the FF's and other RPG's. Damn decisions......

PS2 = Sony. If you are a SOE hater, do you want them getting more of your cash?
Xbox = Microsoft. See above.
I think the Xbox is a better console and has many of the same games. Halo2 and a few other nicer ones bump it above the PS2.
p.s. NES > Newer Consoles.

Not really, you can get an Xbox for about 100 bucks. Likewise, you can find a PS2 for the same if you shop around.
PS2 has more games. Xbox is a more powerful console. Many of the games overlap.
I dont think a new console will be here for at least 6 months...

XBox controllers are just right for those of us that have large hands. Took a little getting used to at first, but now I have a hard time playing PS2, let alone SNES/NES.
The mods available for the XBox system blow the PS2 out of the water. It is a watered down PC in a lot of ways, one meant for games to be played on it and output onto TVs.

That costs $200 with a 120GB hard drive in it. It's the most kick ass console ever created IMO. Not because of it's intended use but because of all the stuff you can do with it once it's "cracked". I own 3 of them now.

Yeah, we have an Xbox but will most likely get the kids a Gamecube for Christmas. It seems more kid friendly.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
Well i have 3 kids, i also have xbox, ps2, gamecube, n64
they love fable, halo etc and tend to play xbox more than twice as much as ps2
tho they do enjoy the dark alliance/balders gate line of ps2 occasionally
gamecube... most games dont give them enough of a challenge.
my nephew prefers the xbox as well.
i bought gamecube and ps2 only because it has more kid friendly games than xbox

i like gamecube for the first party developer games like zelda and mario and metroid etc just because those are the games i grew up with and i love to play all new takes on them. i like certain games for other systems too but if i could re-choose i'd get an xbox because nothing is cooler than the modded xbox. my friend has all the emulators and every game for all the systems up to n64 and a bunch of regular xbox games on his harddrive. it's really cool

Just buy one of each. Problem solved. Or, like Jimmy said, compare the list of exclusives for PS2 vs. Xbox. Whichever list interests you more, buy that one.
Every other new game out there have a version available on both platforms (not to mention 'Cube and PC).
P.S.- Legend of Zelda: the Windwaker, LoZ 2 (out some time Q1 '05), Metroid Prime, and Prime II (out in 4 weeks) alone justify purchasing a 'Cube. That is all.
P.P.S.- 'Cube really shines if you have 2 or 3 friends who can come over to your house and play along with you. So many amazing multiplayer titles.
