Question EQ1-->EQ2

Postby Sirens » Thu Oct 14, 2004 4:04 am

I have tried to guesstimate the impact on EQ1 and in particular EQ1 & The Nameless Server.

But...what are the "future" for EQ1 and "our" server once EQ2 and WoW is out..?

Will the gameworld be shut down some day pretty soon ? Will The Nameless in general be hugely deserted or just populated with people that dont care anyways ?

Reason i ask is because i still like this game and is somewhat reluctant to start over in either EQ2 or WoW....now if i knew that Sony was going to close EQ1 inside a small frame of time ..it would make my decision easier to leave and restart easier.

Well, SOE has a great package deal that allows an EQ1 player to pickup EQ2 and get added access to Planetside for 20 bucks, as well as the SOE Online games on their website.

I think if someone had a lot of time invested in EQ, then it'd make sense to get the package deal.

I think initially most large MMOs will be hit by EQ2 and WOWs release, if it indeed happens mid Nov like both companies have claimed. However, a lot of people are 'attached' to their characters and won't cancel or quit their curren MMO.
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.

Virra keeps trying to get me to...but I love my guild! I would never ask them to change their lives around and go to warcraft for ME...so why should I abandon them just because Virra has a taste for Warcraft...which Warcraft bores me, anyway. I want a game where I can be a damn fairy!

I don't understand how warcraft can bore you but EQ doesn't....it's almost the same damn game. I'm assuming you've never even played it.

If you wanna be a fairy play Horizons.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

I have never played the one you speak of. I have played Warcraft 3...but that is more strategy. Virra told me I would like it. But seriously, I don't want to start all over in a game where I have zero friends and even less experience.

Its a lot easier than EQ in my opinion.

Hell, pretty much anybody could sit down and play it and have a good time.

Well the ONLY thing it has in common with Warcraft 3 is the name and the races...warcraft 3 was an RTS game, WoW is an MMORPG...comparing apples to orange.

Garg just hand down guild leadership to someone you trust, and play WoW to see how it is.

Or EQ2.

And then make your decision. You can always go back to EQ1.

Never! Only I will love my people enough to keep them together until the Nameless goes down forever. I don't need anyone going all power crazy and removing people just because they can't get along with them. Hell, my guild is full of assholes who don't give a fuck and I know for sure that, if I handed AH to ANYONE, there would be a huge battle and BOOM..no more AH. No thanks, babe. However, I will consider buying WoW just because I get bored in between semesters and I might enjoy WoW if it is how cool you all say it is.

EQ2 has this heritage thing. Somehow they are tieing EQ1 characters into EQ2, like you will get items your EQ1 characters has as family heirlooms or some shit.

They details on this are sketchy at best, but sounds interesting. That is, unless its just some juke like the free JBoots (yeah, from what I heard they barely do shit).

I don't think I want to give up my EQ1. I can't see myself NOT playing EQ2...but I will probably be playing EQ1 at the same time. And I just may end up buying WoW because I am starting to think how awesome it would be to make Taxx's life a living hell somewhere besides here!
