Is a crossover guild possible?

Postby Lyion » Wed Oct 27, 2004 2:49 pm

Ok, being in Ohio I have a lot of time during the winter months to game.

I'm extremely interested in both EQ2 and WOW, and would like to experience both games. I've gotten to 15 in EQ2, and I think EQ2 will be a long drive to the endgame. WOW, likewise will be a slow drive to raid content.

My only problem is the best way to MMO is with a group of people who do the exploration and gaming with you.

So, being both EQ2 and WOW are long term games, that'll take months to get anywhere, I'm curious if a crossover guild would work.

By crossover, I mean a guild that plays both games. 10-20 or so people who play EQ2 a few nights a week, and WOW a few nights a week, and can mix and match groups and whatever world they want.

I could join a separate EQ2 and WOW guild, and game with both groups. That would be plan B, I guess, but I somewhat like the idea of one guild in both worlds. Maybe Horde in WOW and Qeynosian in EQ2.

Good idea? Bad Idea?

There are plenty of guilds that have different divisions in different games.

I'm guessing you are talking about the same group of people migrating back and forth tho?

Yeah, although since I've been out of MMO's for a few years, I'm not sure any group would accept my n00b ass.

What I'm thinking about is a 'group, guild, etc' of people who play both games and group together.

I'm not associated with any guild, and haven't been since leaving DAOC a few years ago.

I know Legion of Myth (http://www.maxliao.com/legion/) has people that plan on playing both. They are heavy into RP tho, if that's not your thing.

Another guild is The Exiled (http://www.the-exiled.org). They cross several games as well.

Hmm, anyone from TN in either guild?

I'm actually a pretty hardcore roleplayer, and as far away from d00dness as possible. I play to escape, not to bring this world there.

Also, I fear joining a large guild, as it can get bloated, beauracratic, and filled with Attention Whores or people with the social skills of a leper (Hi, Sanctuary).

Dunno if you know/remember Callandryn or Rookk (mispelled I'm sure) /Booiam but they are the leads for the EQ2 chapter in LoM.

The Exiled is mostly people I met in DAoC and Horizons.

I think Lyion will only be happy if he is in charge of said guild.

What about a small guild with an attention whore or five, no social skills, and with no administration whatsoever aside from group leaders?

As long as everyone has a superb sense of humor, and there is the probablility of mangina cyber.

Pfah, I haven't led a guild for years, and have already done my time for king and country. I'd much rather have a small group of friends, versus a big raiding guild that requires babysitting.

Martrae, I don't know any of those names.

I don't play chick characters aside from Sydnia & her twinks, so I can't help you there. Might want to check up on Vonkaar though, he roleplays a whiny bitch, just need to put a woman's face on him and you are set.

That name seems familiar....

Was that Chrysania's original guild?

Do you mean Chrysania led it? Then no. Although, Chrysania does sound familiar. Been a long time and I can't remember for sure who was all in the guild except leaders/officers..

I guess I should see who else is going to play both WOW and EQ2.

I'm also interested in Jump to Lightspeed, and I'll probably try out Halo2... Ugh, so many cool games coming out...

Organization Drow (Blood of the Spider) is a massive crossover guild, they do everything from EverQuest to First Person Shooter Clans and it seems to work very well for them, so I am sure such a thing could be done.

If I wanted to start a guild, I'd start recruiting. It'd take time, but its not like I dont have an assload of contacts between several other guilds.

My days of leading guilds are over, though. I just want to level and have fun with a minimum of drama and babysitting. My preference would be a small group that plays together, moreso an autonomous commune rather than a dictatorship.

Thanks for the link, Advina. I actually have found a few multi game guilds that look interesting. I'll check theirs out. The name looks familiar.
