Greetings!

If you are receiving this email, you are one of the valued testers currently in World of Warcraft’s closed beta test. This message is to inform you that the beta servers will be coming down at 3:00 PM PDT on Friday, October 29 and will remain offline for a few days in preparation for another stress test. Your account and characters will be active for this stress test, but a new client download will be required. After the game servers come down on Friday the 29th, you will be able to log in to the community site and download the new client.

Once the beta-server preparations are complete, we will announce the start of the stress test, and the servers will come back online. When that happens, you will be able to log back in, download a quick patch, and then continue playing. Please keep an eye on WorldofWarcraft.com for more information about the stress test in the days ahead!

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the hard work you’ve been putting in to make World of Warcraft a better game. You’ve done a great job, and without you, the classes would not be where they are today, places like the Barrens would not be as rich as they are today, and the changes implemented from your suggestions would never have taken place.

We hope you've been enjoying your exclusive look at World of Warcraft these past few weeks and months, and we hope you'll take some satisfaction in knowing that you’ve played a big part in shaping its destiny. We'll see you again online soon!

Sincerely,

Blizzard Entertainment

I'm really surprised WOW is going into Open Beta without testing or implementing:

Hunter Talents
Paladin Talents
PVP
Raids

I'm wondering if Vivendi is hounding them to release to save their ass company?

hunter and pally talents are in next patch, which will be before it goes live and with amount of people testing, they will be able to get feedback on them.

Raids, they used the smaller raids to work out or find out about certain bugs/problems. Most of the raid content saved for live.

WoW devs on their board wrote:Since we've had lots of small hints about the next patch, I will post a summary of them here. Please remember these are NOT complete by any means and we will provide full details of the patch in the patch notes.

------------

EnoYls:

--We continue to spend most of our content time in Kalimdor right now.
- more graveyards
- more flight paths
- more quests
-- We are going to change it so that you cannot change armor in combat, but you can still swap items in your hand slots and ranged slots.
------------

Tigole:

Here's a small sample of upcoming stuff:

--Hunter Talents and improvements
--Pally Talents and improvements (very cool changes!)
--Some *awesome* changes to the warrior
--Tons of tradeskill polish
--Lots more quests... newbie zone polish, plus additional Horde content in the re-vamped Kalimdor zones (ashenvale, desolace, stonetalon, etc.)
--More flight paths
--More Graveyards
--Onyxia >=]
------------

Kalgan:

--The racial traits are currently in internal testing, they aren't some nebulous feature still in concept.
Look right here at my screen *tabs to internal WoW build*... racial traits, for every race. I see 'em. =]
--Worry not, the Felhunter and Infernal are also in this push. :0
--The PvP rewards will also be in this push actually. =]
In addition, the full scoring mechanisms will be in for the honor system, along with some key refinements to how the honor system works.

I havn't seen anything to indicate that OB will definitely be starting next week (closed beta mass-mailings like Taxx's, little snippets from devs on various boards, blahblahblah). Sounds like they're going to do another stress test, but I don't think that necessarily equates open beta. I would expect the patch to go in when they're doing all of this new client stuff, just in time for the next stress test, and it would give them a good ~2 weeks of heavy player traffic to see what cooks. Sounds reasonable enough to me.

They're playing it cool and close to the vest, that's for sure. When they want us to know, they'll anounce it (my money would be on the week of the 15th, were I a betting man).

I was sort of thinking it would make sense that they'd go open before the 8th, just to fuck with $OE (because most people are just chomping at the bit for something, and whatever comes out first is where they will go), but it sounds like they may have other plans. Maybe they don't feel that they need to try to sabotage EQII's release (sounds like $OE has got it covered :P), so they're not rushing to open. That's cool too.
I don't need no instructions to know how to ROCK!

World of Warcraft Forums Offline this Weekend
Due to a large amount of maintenance work being done on our servers this weekend, all World of Warcraft forums on http://www.WorldofWarcraft.com and on http://www.Battle.net will go offline at 9:00 PM PDT tonight and will remain offline until late Monday morning. We hope you have a good weekend, and we look forward to seeing you again online on Monday.

Not this weekend. :)
